Hi everyone. I’m a 24-year-old with short, fine hair that is mostly straight with a slight wave—probably around type 1C–2A. My scalp and forehead are constantly very oily, regardless of how I wash my hair. I have tried both extremes: washing with shampoo every day, sometimes even twice a day, and avoiding shampoo completely and washing only with water. Neither approach has made a meaningful difference—the oiliness always continues, and my hair becomes greasy and flat very easily. My hair has also started looking thinner and weaker, particularly around the temples and crown, although I haven’t noticed significant shedding. I sometimes experience mild scalp redness. My forehead is especially oily. I have tried using CeraVe Foaming Cleanser on my face, but it hasn’t solved the problem, and CeraVe products also tend to sting my eyes. Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this simply be naturally high sebum production, or might it be related to scalp irritation, seborrheic dermatitis, product buildup? I would really appreciate recommendations for a simple routine and lightweight products suitable for fine, oily hair.
