An elderly man has been to the hospital after a mild stroke (when blood flow to part of the brain is blocked or a blood vessel in the brain bleeds). He is fortunate. There has not been a lot of damage to his brain, and he is still walking and talking, but the left side of his body is weak. The doctor prescribes a blood thinner (a medicine that helps keep blood clots from forming) to prevent a recurrent or bigger stroke. The bottle gives the drug's name, the strength, and the dose. The man has been taking ASA (acetylsalicylic acid, also known as aspirin) for many years to help prevent stroke and heart attack, but a stroke did happen. The man goes home and adds the blood thinner to his daily medications. 🔍 Can you spot the problem in this story?
