Tell me what size your dream greenhouse is?!
We’ve got another greenhouse build coming up in the next few weeks, and I’m completely torn on what size to go with. I’d love your input. What does your dream greenhouse look like? How big would you build it? And what kind of budget would you realistically want to stay within? I’m sharing my latest concept here for context. Right now I’m leaning toward a 12' x 20' design, built as a passive solar greenhouse. The goal would be to push it closer to a true 4-season growing space. Curious to hear what you'd do.

Sky's the limit if $$ was not the issue. I'm thinking of a similar 12' x 20'. Probably tunnel with galvanize structure bought used. Recycling what some would just trash theirs. Put some new plastic/canvas cover and some foundation prep with anchors, i'd reckon costing about $1000.
Our meat chickens are here!
If you don't know this about us already. We raise our own chickens for meat and have been doing so for 4 years now. It is something we jumped into with ZERO experience and we are so glad we did. One of the least expensive ways to start raising your own homegrown quality protein. With the least amount of barriers to entry, I believe everyone with even a little bit of land should be raising themselves a handful of broilers (aka meat chickens). It takes just 8 weeks to raise them up from these little baby chicks you see here, to being 6-8 lbs butcher ready birds. I'll keep you guys posted on how this year goes! We are raising 90 broilers and 3 turkeys this year. My first time ever trying turkeys! Have questions about raising chickens for meat? Pop them in the chat below.

I plan on having some soon but will have to find out what the laws are in Spain specifically in our area. It seems like we have to register or have permits, but not very sure. From what I've been seeing/researching, they can be destructive to the ground/area if they are not being move around. Do you allow them to roam around in grassy area? What feed do you give as supplements?

@Carolynne Hill That make sense. I have seen many chicken tractor designs. How high is your electric fence and how many parallel lines?

Hello, I'm originally from Malaysia but left that country a long time ago. Been living in different places such as Singapore and USA (LA & TX). Currently, me and wife bought had bought a place in Spain last Sept 2025. Setting up as our homestead and retreat business. Lots of work to be done, so it will be a long way/ many yearrssss to go. For now, we are getting the house in livable condition by June this year so that we can live on the land and do more things. We are literally restarting our journey as a "New Season" in our life's! It's one small step at a time!
Another greenhouse underway!
It’s that time of year that the projects start up! Which means I’ve had photos from customers rolling in and I love it! These customers are currently building the Iris. Our 12’ x 16’ timber frame style greenhouse. This build is very popular because it is such a showstopper! This project takes 2 people about 5 days to build and cost around $4500 CAD to complete. You can grab the building plans for the Iris here: https://thehillsidemarket.com/collections/garden-projects/products/the-iris Plus, on now, grab any 2 or more project plans and automatically magically save 15% ✨ If you have questions about this project comment here or tag me in your post! Don’t forget to send me your project photos ✌️

Seems like a cool, simple design and love the translucent corrugates panels. The only issue with those is that I think over time they get discolored. Also, not sure if they hold on with strong storms.
