Gold At Rainbow's End?
On a whim, I talked to the Gordon's Food Service manager. They sell produce and sometimes they have to get some bad or have it go bad. He said it didn't happen often but he'd call me when it did. Bingo! 50# of potatoes just got put in my freezer! That's gonna feed a lot of pre-compost bins! Now to find more options so I can start dehydrating for greens powder!

@David Humphrey it should be! That would raise the demand and price of worms!

Is There Any Reason...
Why you shouldn't use paper - like copy paper - instead of newspaper as your moisture saver under the bubble wrap for a small starter kits? AND if you have paper down with a lid on the bin, is the bubble wrap really necessary? If not an absolute need, does it still provide value?

@Jason Evans hey, the little things add up. My totes are a little thicker- so they hold heat better, they're black - more heat retention - add in your microbial factor and success is just a bit easier and more predictable.

@Jason Evans it'll heat the house in the winter for you!
Contest WINNERS!
Oh... did I make that plural? Dang! Guess I have to have at least 2 winners now! If you were a winner, send @Cherene Packard a message with your shipping info and a bunch of super cool red wiggler cocoons will be headed your way! Drum roll please.... And the winner is: @Vanessa L!!! She commented on every post and not just once. Sometimes volume is important! Oh yeah... the second winner. He was in here giving info and advice on more things to consider with the PC (pre-compost) adventure, so congratulate @Brian Davis! Give our two winners some love! They just had new kids... well... they're about to!

@Brian Davis first, congratulations on the all American results with the biochar! On the 2nd comment, what is making it smell nauseatingly sweet?

@Jodi Wojciechowski so you're in a barn?
Growth Happens... FAST!!!
It seems like just yesterday I had 3 bins. A breeder bin, a cocoon nursery and a worm tower (now retired.) Now as you can see, I need to get more shelving as I have 6 full size breeder bins, 2 mini breeder bins for bedding experiments, 5 nursery bins and 1 massive 50-gallon grow out bin! Pretty crazy how fast you can grow a clew!

@Cherene Packard I'm stealing another shelving unit from the garage. I have my eye on another one I can steal from the basement. I'm doing math to see how long I need each bin from cocoon to maturity, so I know how many I end up with when I'm running 2 breeder bins per week. Hint: I think it's a LOT! I'm going to need to make some sales before Kathy and I are sleeping on the lawn in January!

I help people stop staring into the fridge, feed themselves better, and let worms turn the leftovers into black gold.
