Anyone upgrading their home lab wireless to Wi-Fi 7?
Take a look at my post here. Do You Really Need Wi-Fi 7 in Your Home Lab in 2025? https://www.virtualizationhowto.com/2025/12/do-you-really-need-wi-fi-7-in-your-home-lab-in-2025/

No, I have some wifi capability but the majority runs via 2.5gbe wired networks. I keep wifi for the general home use.
TP-Link Ban If it Happens
Here is a good video explaining what will happen if there is ban on the company. One item it talked about was smart home devices that are made by TP-Link which slipped my mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-eHtS0U4TY&t=13s

Im in the UK and we had a similar thing with ANPR Cameras with Chinese origins. The issuer is here that as much as no Government wants to admit it we have a huge reliance on China for electronics, whether they be finished goods or components. The receiving Country surely needs to be assured that the productsd it allows imports of are free from callback/writeback type activity. This would be down to some sort of laboratory testing surely? For Government/Security agencies this may be a prioirty and then I would quesiton why they had ever used these types of kit to begin with. For the consumer, should this ban really be enforced on us? Im sure Beijing would be very disappointed with the intelligence they can glean from my Homelab 😁
AI Based Automated Email Classification and Labelling
My latest development with n8n is a workflow that uses a text classification node and AI model to determine which label to assign to particular emails as they hit the inbox. This ia a fairly simplistic four stage workflow 1. Gmail Trigger Node: that runs every 15 Minutes to check for new emails (in the inbox) 2. Text Classifier Node: If an email exists it will be fed to the text classification node that will utilise the 3. AI model: Sub-Node reviews the content of the Subject Matter and Email Body then....... 3. Gmail Label Node: Routes the Email to the relevant label node for labelling. The entire process once activated is handoff.

AI Based Automated Email Classification and Labelling
It Finally Happened..............
Well after two years of luck, it finally ran out. I had an automated message about 5pm UK Time to say that one of my web urls wasnt responding. On checking the VM it indeed wasnt responding..... then the fun began......... Not only was the url down but hidden in an avalanche of alerts in Jira was that the entire hypervisor containing approx 25 VM's and 32tb of active data had fallen over, along with my Zabbix and SIEM instances. Luckily I have an "every 24 hour" backup strategy, and, as of 5am this morning all the VMs on that Hypervisor had backed up. So for the moment I am restoring critical VM's to one of my other two servers, then on the weekend I will begin the painful task of a full rebuild of an 80tb Hypervisor Server. So everyone, ensure you backup regular, you never know when its your turn.......

Well after a productive day I have: - Rebuilt Hypervisor3 after it failed - Upgraded Hypervisor 2 with an additional 96gb ram - Reset a Kemp Loadmaster ready to configure - Added a new shelf to my rack - Implemented a new network into rhe ecosystem. Hope you have all had an equally productive day.
Today's project
Today was fine for a small project. I purchased this KEMP Loadmaster LM3000 a week ago from an IT recycling company. What is annoying is when things aren't reset. Took me over an hour to break into the admin account so that I could reset it to factory defaults. The hardware had a whole load of server configuration information contained within it. Now it's time to learn how to configure this, then add it to my homelab ecosystem.
