👋 What are you building?
Skip the polished bio. Give us enough context to understand the work. • What do you do? • What are you trying to build, automate, or improve? • What does your current setup look like? • Where are you stuck? • Are privacy, local AI, cost, or vendor lock-in part of the decision? If you are still exploring, name the decision you are trying to make. “Which local model fits customer-support documents?” gives people something useful to answer. “I want to use AI” does not.

Hi, I work in the ServiceNow ecosystem as a senior consultant and architect. AI at work is defined by my company and the customers I work with, but in my own time I’m just keen to learn and explore. Currently I’m using a mix of AI: - Gemini for personal search and research - Claude free as my BA/Solution Architect assistant - GitHub Copilot for hobby projects I have looked at local AI setups but I currently run on a laptop with limited VRAM. I was looking at a MacBook Pro setup or Mac Mini but the recent price jump has put me off. Where I am stuck??? My GitHub Copilot annual plan will run out and I’m not sure if I am best to stick to a paid plan or invest in going local. Privacy and data sovereignty is appealing but costs are getting prohibitive.

@Daniel Jindoo Hi Daniel, Thank you for the response, I did not expect that it is really appreciated. I will have a closer look at the API options and the cost comparison. This sounds like it might be a great way to experiment with different models without locking in on a subscription.

I use or work with AI most days in my job and dabble in my free time.
