@Jjohnna Lewin Hi there, yes absolutly sould like to mewet him. First off. It's awesome that he wants to become a business owner. As a contractor here's what I would do to get where I am quicker from a younger age. You can relay the info to him/ or he can come chat with me online here. 1. Get an apprenticeship during the summer for a trade. If you want to be a general contractor start getting some hands on experience. 2. Start finding ways to learn other skills you'll need. As a business owner you will need to know contract management, sales, accounting etc. Just like trades you'll need to know the basics of everything at the least. 3. Learn about your local laws and licensing requirements. For instance in Oregon you'll need some verified experience to get your contractors license so starting step one is important. 4. Work lots of hours and save every dollar, don't say no to stuff, when you decide to make a move having a lot of cash helps reduce stress. 5. Read every book on leadership, management, and sales that you can. 6. Specialized service contractors are where it's at. I know you said general but repeatable scalable services are where money is at. Hope this helps
