Finally Landed a Remote Gig
Hello everyone, I’m happy to say I was able to land a full time remote job! It was a long journey, filled with ambiguity and for myself had quite a bit of risk involved. I left my job a few months before landing my remote job. I was stuck in a job I hated in a city that I couldn’t justify the high cost and low value for. So in my case necessity was the mother of invention, but I don’t suggest taking the same route. It’s still early days for myself, but I am starting to see a way out. If anything at least a little breathing room to build the life that I want. I’m hoping in the coming months things will start to turn in my favor, just keeping my head down while having a greater vision in mind. We’re all on the same journey, so I hope your time will come as well!

Intro
Hey everyone, my name is Ricardo and I’m from NYC. I work as a low voltage electrician for NBC, working on many popular shows like SNL and Jimmy Fallon. But this work is no longer my passion, and I’d like to pursue a remote lifestyle. I am in love with creating things, physically or digitally. I currently have a side business where I create custom wooden necklaces and furniture. In addition I have a degree in architecture and provide layouts and designs for clients (mainly family and friends). I’ve always been an avid world traveler and been following Austin for many years now. I want location freedom. I don’t see myself commuting with the subway everyday in NYC. I want to envelop myself with different cultures and meet other likeminded people. I really like south east Asia, and I think the Philippines will be my home base for a while. I have been to many places including Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, St. Vincent, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Spain, Italy, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines. And maybe a few more im forgetting. I really love every place I’ve been but Thailand and the Philippines really have a special place in my heart, the people, culture, food, and scenery there is unforgettable. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you and taking the next step into remote living!

@Eddy Cruz thanks Eddy! Doing electrical work definitely pays well, but thinking about my future and longevity of the type of work, I don’t see myself wanting to be physically doing manual labor till I’m 60. I definitely see the future being able to work remote and take care of my body and health more.
