This week’s win. 🌈
She came in three months ago as an Executive Director and mom of two running on empty. Her nervous system had one speed. She was still in the building when she left the building. Rest wasn’t fixing the exhaustion. And the version of herself who chases fireflies and plays? She had almost forgotten that woman existed. She came in with six goals. Here is what happened: Goal 1: She wanted to stop feeling exhausted in a way rest wasn’t fixing. Her sleep measurably improved. The middle-of-the-night waking that had been happening for years became rare. Goal 2: She wanted to stop feeling like she was still in the building (work) when she left. She designed her own anchor — a thumbprint on the door handle from the garage into her house. Finish the call in the car. Pause. Choose who walks in. Her words: “When I walked in the door, I was in the house.” Goal 3: Be more present with her kids. She started playing Mahjong with her daughter instead of managing her. She caught the moments — the fireflies, the dinner with all four of them. Goal 4: Have tools that work in real life — two minutes or less. She started teaching them to colleagues. “I actually can feel the difference. I think it’s a big reason why I’m sleeping.” Goal 5: Understand why her nervous system feels stuck. She has the map now. She catches the signal in her shoulders before her mind catches up. She has language for all of it. Goal 6: Feel more like herself — the version that existed before all of this. She found her. Named her her Zen version. Felt her at a double rainbow on July 3rd — calm, awe, warm belly, shoulders dropped, connected to something bigger than herself. And then she said this: “This is not a knock on my therapist — I’ve been with her for 6 years and I love her. But I actually think I made more progress in this space than I have in a very long time. In 12 weeks, I was able to do a lot of work on myself.” This is what 12 weeks of nervous system rewiring looks like for a high-capacity woman who thought she had already tried everything.

It truly has been so helpful in a time in life that feels like the stress piles on. But Dr Melissa has given me the tools to reset my nervous system in just a few moments at a time!
