Good news, ladies
Good news, ladies. I just expanded Lesson 1 in the free course, The GC Legal and Financial Foundation, with more free details you can actually use. More on business structure, bank accounts, insurance, contracts, scopes, paying yourself, and keeping job money in its job, plus checklists and a second payment schedule example. Go check it out in the Classroom, and tell me in the comments what you are going to fix first.

👋 Welcome — Start Here: Your First 3 Days
Welcome in. I'm Ree — I've spent 25-plus years building as a general contractor, and this is the playbook I wish I'd had starting out: how to price jobs so you actually make money, keep subs accountable, stop scope creep, and run clean, documented jobs. You're here to scale your business, not just swing a hammer. Here's your first 3 days — short, simple, and usable on a real job: DAY 1 — Introduce yourself right here in the comments. Three things: your business, your story, and your biggest job-site challenge right now. I'll welcome you by name and point you at the right place to start. DAY 2 — Read the starter post: "Welcome to The GC Playbook — Start Here, For Real." That's the 3 Rules in detail: price it to win AND make money, if it isn't written down it didn't happen, and protect your cash flow. DAY 3 — Post one job you priced or documented differently. A bid you reworked, a change order you actually wrote down, a day you logged. Real numbers beat theory every time. Where to go next: • Classroom — start with Lesson 1: The GC Legal & Financial Foundation. Work the lessons in order, Lesson 1 first. • Calendar — check what's coming up and save the next session. • Stuck on a job right now? Drop it in the feed. That's what this place is for. Be straight, be helpful, no self-promotion. Glad you're here — now go introduce yourself. Day 1 starts now. — Ree

@Kalonee Callahan Thank you, Kalonee, my girl, I love you, and I am so glad you are here. You are just getting started as a new Developer and GC, and I am going to build you up, step by step, so you can be a great woman GC. We brought heart all the way from STL, and now we are building something big together. Tell me what you want to learn first, I got you.

@Teoy Thompson Hi Teoy, welcome, I am so glad you are here. That lesson about invoices, I have lived that one too, and you are in the right place to learn it before it costs you again. Understanding the layers of GC and sub pricing, defining a clear scope, and finding subs who communicate, show up, and stand behind their work, that is the heart of what we do here. Tell me what you want to learn first, I got you.
Building with Purpose and Learning Who to Build With
Hi Ree and everyone! I’m Teoy, owner of I Speak Housing Solutions. I’m based in Southern California and own properties in Conroe, Texas, where I provide furnished housing for corporate travelers, professionals, and families displaced by insurance claims. I’m currently building my first ground up duplex...the first of many! By day, I’m an IT project manager, so coordinating teams, budgets, and deadlines is what I do. Now I’m learning how that translates when the deliverable has a foundation and a roof. 😂 My biggest challenge right now is understanding who I’m hiring, what their price includes, and who’s actually responsible for the work. After purchasing materials separately and learning more about crew costs, I realized I hadn’t fully understood the layers of subcontracting and GC fees in some of my bids. Apparently, some lessons come with an invoice! 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 I’m happy to pay for expertise, coordination, and quality work. I also want to ask better questions, understand my numbers, and have clear expectations before the work starts. I joined to learn how to find and vet dependable subs, compare bids, document scopes and payments, and build a reliable team I can grow with across future projects. Saving money matters, but so does having people who communicate, show up, and stand behind their work. Glad to be here and ready to learn, with an active build to put these lessons into practice!

Hi Teoy, welcome, and congratulations on your first ground-up duplex, that is a big step and you should be so proud of it. I love what you are building with I Speak Housing Solutions, and how you are bringing your project management experience into construction, that is real work and it shows. Where is your new build going to be? I am in Houston building a new branch of Lafayette Construction here, and I would love to explore if there is an opportunity for us to collaborate. Thank you for introducing yourself here, I am glad you are with us.
We went from 3 to 33 in one day, let us meet each other
Good morning, family. I am still taking this in. Yesterday we went from our first 3 members to 33 in one day, and we are now at 38 strong. I am so grateful for every one of you who showed up, shared your story, and lifted each other up. I built this community so we would not have to figure this business out alone. Here is what we offer together, real teaching you can use on a job, not teasers. Bidding with real markup and margin, change orders in writing, vetting subs, cash flow and draw schedules, and real talk about the jobs that keep us up at night. Bring your numbers, bring your stuck job, we will work through it together. Separately, with time, if you need me on your own personal task, your own bid, your own job, your own takeoff, I have ways to work with you one on one. You will find those in the pinned post, no pressure at all, start here first and learn with us. Now I want us talking to each other. In the comments, tell us who you are, what you do, where you are based, and what your interests are. What are you building, or learning, or trying to get better at right now? Read each other's intros, reply to somebody, find your people in here. We found our tribe, let us act like it. And ladies, is there anything you'd like for me to discuss today? Tell me what you want to hear about, and I'll talk about it.
Welcome my girl Kalonee Callahan
We both brought heart all the way from STL... Kalonee is my girl — an old friend from back home in St. Louis, and I love her so much. She is a new Developer and GC, just getting started, and she just joined us today. I could not be happier she is here. I know what she has in her, and I want to build her up into a great woman GC. She has the heart for this work, and she is ready to learn it the right way. Kalonee, welcome, baby. Tell us a little about what you are building, or what you are hoping to learn first. We are here for you. Ladies, show my girl some love. This is what we do here — women showing up for each other in construction.
