Just sharing a story... My flight was supposed to depart at 6:30 last night and it got delayed, and delayed, and delayed... Ended up departing closer to midnight. I had my 5 year old traveling with me. By time I got to my destination it was close to 2AM, my child was sleeping so I had to carry him off the plane. It was so late that all the rental car companies were already CLOSED. I did not have a child seat with me because I was planning to rent one with the rental car we reserved. Now this means I was NOT able to get to my hotel and the choice was spend the night at the airport OR get a ride to a hotel, and pay out of pocking for a night at a hotel. Keep in mind my kid is still asleep on top of me... I tried to ask around if there was a Taxi service, and nothing available at 2AM... they told me to call UBER and I got lucky the uber driver didn't complain about my kid being asleep and us not having a car seat. I had to pay $200 out of pocket to get a hotel room for the remainder of the night... Now I am going to try to FIGHT back with UNITED airlines about all the delays because it was related to an airline problem and all they gave us was $15 in snacks on the plane... ugh.

I'm leaving next week to go to visit my family. My son and his dad are also coming with me, and I got the economy tickets. You know the BASIC economy tickets. The ones that don't allow you to bring a big. Because we are only going for a long weekend we will not be traveling with a lot of "stuff" so instead I'm just going to pack one large check-in bag with everyones stuff in one suitcase. Yeah the one bag is going to cost me $100 for it to fly round trip but it would have cost a lot more to upgrade everyone to the economy from the basic economy. ---------------------------------------- PS - Rakuten is having a TRIPLE cashback deal on many stores today

I was unfortunately in a car accident over the weekend. Fortunately for me, I was not hurt just my car got some pretty good damage and it's going to need to go into a body shop. Because I have a Tesla, I'm going to try to get it into a Tesla approved body shop... and lord knows they can be back logged. Well... my mind goes directly to ... how can I earn points from this unfortunate event?? So the wheels in my head are already turning thinking MAYBE I could book my own car rental on my Chase Sapphire Reserve card since it has car rental protection. This way I could earn 8x points per dollar through the car rental agency on Chase Travel. Then I could just have the insurance company cut me a check. Now - I'm not saying this is going to go down but at least it is worth a TRY!
