Honored to Welcome Empress Rebecca to the King’s Circle 🌟
Today I’m proud to officially welcome Rebecca Russel, aka Empress Rebecca, as the first person from my home, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, to join the King’s Circle. Rebecca and I both come from the western part of the island — which makes this moment even more special. Rebecca also carries Puerto Rican ancestry and has a deep love for culture and the Ifá tradition. She embodies strength, wisdom, and commitment to community. She is also a passionate advocate for students with disabilities and families navigating that journey. Rebecca recently published a workbook created specifically to support parents of children with disabilities — a resource rooted in compassion, lived experience, and practical guidance. 📘 You can learn more about her workbook here:🔗 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FVSPFP2N?ref=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cso_wa_mwn_dp_5G69NNBZ2K2GWSHFYS1K_1&ref_=cm_sw Rebecca was also recently interviewed back home on the show Strength to Strength, where she shared her story and mission.🎙 Listen to her interview here:🔗 https://drive.google.com/file/d/16EyrQfWkCVBEu4WYs2jVrQPZHa5Vka0U/view I’m so glad Rebecca is on this journey with us, and I’m truly grateful for her friendship over the years. Rebecca, welcome to the King’s Circle. And we’re excited for what’s ahead. 🔥

@James Weeks My uncle had his farm in Canovanas. As a Boriqua, I have tasted coffee but never drank coffee as a regular. I don’t like it. I live to brew it after the house is cleaned. It makes the house smell good. lol
Reflection Thread: She Taught Me How To Live
I’m headed to Miami to pay my respects to a powerful spiritual teacher. Melissa, the young woman from Trinidad who inspired my film, has passed. Those of you on the Across the King’s River list received the news yesterday. Melissa lived her spirituality in a rare way — without fear of death. She welcomed her transition. She was ready for what was next. I’ve reshared the message in the Film Classroom, Becoming Light Again: Here's a link: She Taught Me How To Live - Becoming Light Again - Film · The King's Circle Your reflections and comments are welcome as I prepare to support her journey home.

Sending healing thoughts
“If Your Ancestor Sat Across From You Today…”
Imagine one of your ancestors sitting across from you right now. They know your struggles. They see your potential. What would they say? Who are they asking you to become? What action are they urging you to take? Where do they believe you belong? Would they tell you to stay? To leave? To build? To forgive? Write from their voice if you feel bold. Let them speak through you in the comments.

My child, I did not survive so you could shrink. I carried water you will never feel on your shoulders. I swallowed words you now speak freely. I stayed silent where you get to choose. Every comfort you call “normal” was once someone’s prayer whispered through tired breath. I see your struggles. They are real. But so is your strength — and you forget that part too easily. You think you are lost. You are not lost. You are standing at the edge of becoming. Who am I asking you to become? Become the one who stops apologizing for existing. Become disciplined when it is easier to drift.Become kind without becoming small.Become dangerous to doubt.Become steady in a world that shakes. You carry more than your own name. You carry continuity. What action am I urging you to take? Do the hard thing you keep postponing. Make the call.Start the work.End the pattern.Leave what is starving you. Build what nourishes you. You are waiting for certainty. We never had certainty. We had courage. Borrow some of ours. Where do I believe you belong? Not where you are tolerated.Where you are expanded. Not where you survive.Where you build. Not in rooms where you fold yourself smaller in spaces that require your full height. Would I tell you to stay? To leave? To build? To forgive? Stay j if the soil is good and you are growing.Leave if your spirit is thinning. Build even if you must build alone at first.Forgive not because they deserve it, but because you deserve freedom. And forgive yourself most of all. You think we were braver than you. We weren’t. We were just unwilling to waste the chance we were given. Do not waste yours. Stand up straighter.Choose with intension. Love boldly and fiercely. Work steadily. Rest without guilt. And remember: You are not starting from nothing. You are starting from us.
