Hey there everyone...happy to be here in community with you all. I've made a living as a pro athlete and adventurer for my entire life. A concussion sidelined me about 4.5 years ago. The journey through that injury and long term symptoms has been harder than anything I've ever done. Way harder than riding my bike across Iceland, or riding the Ho Chi Minh Trail jungles for a month, or riding self supported in -40 temps in Alaska, or swimming the Grand Canyon, or navigating the wilderness by myself for weeks, or climbing El Capitan. The untreated concussion symptoms spiraled into a mental health crisis that affected my health, mobility, motivation, relationships and entire life for years. I didn't recognize myself and was in pretty deep trouble physically and emotionally. Psychedelic assisted therapy was the catalyst that finally shifted the spiral to an upward direction. I've been lucky to have safe and experienced supervision and integration support with the macro doses I have done. The experiences have saved my life. I am here in this community to continue the work and ensure that the shifts I am experiencing are supported by my daily habits and lifestyle. I've shared my concussion story in a 4 part YouTube series in hopes of helping other people navigate this common injury more gracefully than I did. Here's a short glimpse of that. Happy to be here and have more community support. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kirqcZGSPq0
