Matthew 21. 1-11
Here’s the reading for the coming Sunday. This marks Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week, where we remember Christ’s entry into Jerusalem. Jesus enters not as a worldly king, but in humility, riding on a donkey, fulfilling prophecy and revealing the true nature of His kingship. The crowds recognise something significant and cry out, “Hosanna to the Son of David”, welcoming Him as the Messiah. At the same time, there is confusion. As the city is stirred, people ask, “Who is this?” Even in this moment of praise, He is not fully understood. Palm Sunday holds both sides together. It is a moment of recognition, but also the beginning of the path to the Cross. The same voices that welcome Him will soon turn. The same city that praises will later reject. Feel free to share your thoughts and reflections

Cathedral Buen Pastor de San Sebastián
Visited the Cathedral Buen Pastor de San Sebastián yesterday. Built between 1888 and 1897 in Neo-Gothic style, it’s the main cathedral of the city and seat of the Diocese. The sandstone structure and 75m spire make it one of the defining landmarks of San Sebastián, and inside you’ve got a full vaulted nave, stained glass, and a high altar dedicated to Christ the Good Shepherd. It was elevated to cathedral status in 1953. More interestingly, the Holy Week processions have returned across the region. These include traditional Semana Santa penitential processions, where confraternities (hermandades) carry religious statues through the streets, often depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ. Participants wear traditional robes, some walk in silence or barefoot as an act of penance, and the processions are accompanied by drums or solemn music.

Basillica De Santa Maria
Beautiful experience today at the Basilica here in San Sebastián. A moment to pause, reflect, and take it in — the silence, the presence, and the sense of something greater. Places like this remind you that faith isn’t just something we learn, it’s something we step into. Hope everyone has had a blessed day wherever you are. 🙏

Lent 5th Sunday
Hope everyone had a blessed weekend and a fruitful time at Mass yesterday. The Gospel we heard was the healing of the man born blind, where Christ restores his sight and reveals something deeper about faith and spiritual blindness. It’s always interesting to hear how different parishes approach the readings, so feel free to share what stood out to you from the Gospel or the homily at your parish. I’ve also shared a short document on the raising of Lazarus, which will be the Gospel for this coming Sunday. That gives us a few days during the week to read and reflect on it ahead of Mass. It’s one of the most powerful moments in the Gospel, pointing clearly to Christ’s authority over death and the promise of new life. If you get a chance to read through it during the week, feel free to share any reflections.
