Futur Proche vs Futur Simple
Salut! Today you're learning the two ways to talk about the future in French — and when to use each one! Video below Le futur proche — aller + infinitive The most common in everyday spoken French. Use it for things happening soon or things you're planning. Je vais manger — I'm going to eat Tu vas partir — You're going to leave Il va pleuvoir — It's going to rain Nous allons rentrer — We're going to go home Le futur simple — verb (infinitive) + future ending More formal, used in writing, news, and narrative. Also used for things further in the future or more uncertain. Je mangerai — I will eat Tu partiras — You will leave Il pleuvra — It will rain Nous rentrerons — We will go home The future simple endings are always the same: je -ai / tu -as / il -a / nous -ons / vous -ez / ils -ont The simple rule: in conversation, futur proche is almost always the better choice. You'll hear futur simple more in books, news, and formal writing — but it's still important to recognize and understand! Can you make a few sentences using today's words? Write them in the comments below!

Le Subjonctif — What It Is and How to Form It
Salut! Today you're learning the subjonctif — one of the most important verb moods in French, used to express wishes, doubts, obligations and emotions. Video below The rule: take the ils form at present tense, drop the -ent, and add these endings que je -e que tu -es qu'il / elle -e que nous -ions que vous -iez qu'ils / elles -ent Example with venir — ils viennent → base : vienn- que je vienne que tu viennes qu'il / elle vienne que nous venions que vous veniez qu'ils viennent The 4 most important irregular verbs — these don't follow the rule, just memorize them! Être que je sois / que tu sois / qu'il soit / que nous soyons / que vous soyez / qu'ils soient Avoir que j'aie / que tu aies / qu'il ait / que nous ayons / que vous ayez / qu'ils aient Aller que j'aille / que tu ailles / qu'il aille / que nous allions / que vous alliez / qu'ils aillent Faire que je fasse / que tu fasses / qu'il fasse / que nous fassions / que vous fassiez / qu'ils fassent If you master these 4 verbs plus the ils rule, you already know the most important parts of the subjonctif! Savoir vs Connaître — Two Ways to Know
Salut! Today you're learning one of the most common points of confusion in French — there are two completely different verbs for "to know" and they are not interchangeable! Video below (Coming soon I'm tired !) Savoir — To know a fact or skill Je sais — I know Tu sais — You know Il / Elle / On sait — He / She / We knows Nous savons — We know Vous savez — You know (formal / plural) Ils / Elles savent — They know Connaître — To know a person or place Je connais — I know Tu connais — You know Il / Elle / On connaît — He / She / We knows Nous connaissons — We know Vous connaissez — You know (formal / plural) Ils / Elles connaissent — They know The key difference: use savoir for facts and skills — je sais nager, je sais que tu es là. Use connaître for people and places — je connais Marie, je connais bien Paris. Also, if it is followed by a Noun, it is always connaître ! When in doubt, ask yourself if you could replace "know" with "be familiar with" — if yes, it's connaître! Can you make a few sentences using today's words? Write them in the comments below!
