Apple is releasing video podcasts
https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/02/apple-introduces-a-new-video-podcast-experience-on-apple-podcasts/ At glance, I was excited. But, I now have mixed feelings about Apple Video since it won't be supported by Megaphone. Most big podcasters and networks use Spotify's Megaphone Hosting platform, including myself and YAP Media. It seems awesome they are going to be able to execute Dynamic Ad Insertion for video, just seems unfair that only certain creators will get access to it. May make me evaluate other hosting providers for the first time in a long time... smart move by Apple. "Acast; ART19, an Amazon company; Triton’s Omny Studio; and SiriusXM, inclusive of SiriusXM Media, AdsWizz, and Simplecast, are supporting HLS video at launch." In other video podcast news, Spotify video rolled out last year; and this year youtube is releasing Dynamic Ad Insertion for video which will unlock full catalog monetization capabilities for creators and advertisers. Basically with DAI on youtube, you'll be able to monetize both old and new episodes on with new advertisers ongoingly and dynamic insert/replace commercials across your catalog just like you can on audio.
