About the Founder
I am a former pastor's daughter, as such my faith in God has played a large role in leading me to where I am now, starting Joys of Fidgeting. As someone diagnosed as an adult in my 30s with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), something genetically inherited but was missed during my childhood due to not enough research or understanding of it during my childhood. I understand the struggle of having a brain that functions differently than others and not knowing that I struggled so much because neither I, my parents, my doctors, nor my teachers knew what specifically was the behind my lack of executive functioning skills, working memory loss, fidgetiness, hyperactivity, verbal and physical stimming etc. Now knowing what it was, I have been able to find tools and strategies that work with my brain type to help me be successful in life and in my career. As somone who has multiple chronic infirmities (asthma, arthritis, fibromyalgia just to name a few of the more publicly palpable of the CVS pharmacy reciept length list that of the things "medically interesting" and "life-long" I deal with daily) my physical capability to function enough to do simple daily things fluctuate in how limited I am and what kind of accommodations or modifications I need in order to successfully do something as simple as open a bag of chips or wash a dish depending on which or which combination of chronic illnesses are flaring up at that moment. If both fibromyalgia is flaring up in one or both of my arms, and the carpol tunnel in my dominate arm acting up I may need a tool that I can slide across the bag with my non-dominate hand to open it as just pulling open the bag is too physically painful for me to manage. However if it's less one of the pain causing ailments and more of a muscle weakness causing ailment flaring up the scissors would be the tool I use to open the bag of chips, and I might need to sit on a tall stool to do dishes. Or I may need a short stool to put groceries in the fridge or pantry.

About us and upcoming research opportunities
Joys of Fidgeting is run by individuals whom have years of experience either as being neurodiverse, chronically ill, or otherwise disabled ourselves and working in careers specializing in helping these types of individuals make progress towards becoming more successful in life, school, or work. Now we aim to educate others to do the same in an easy and affordable way. We continually conduct our own research and study the research of those more exerienced than us in this field in order to compile the most upto date information on the most effective tools and strategies to best assist you with your particular needs. This is a new and rapidly growing business aimed at providing the best information to assist you, so there will be many opportunities to participate in our research done through survey and poll formats inquiring who you are (individual seeking help for self, parent seeking help for child, educator seeking help for students, business owner/management seeking help for employees), what your concerns are, what tools and strategies you have used that are successful how/when/where/why you used them, and what tools and strategies you used that where not successful in helping you achieve a specific goal, and price range of the the tools you used. Participation in our research is purely voluntary and optional, but allows you to contribute to the development of the lessons we will offer in our courses, upto date and current information we will provide during our webinars and in person trainings on what tools are best used when, where, for what, how to use them effectively, and how to acquire them affordably.
