I have a client with years of shoulder pain. During the first visit, I assessed the structural side and found some weakness in the teres minor and infraspinatus. I addressed those issues, but the pain remained, especially after loading the infraspinatus (+ serratus anterior and anterior deltoid). Seemingly out of nowhere, she told me that her father wanted her to be a son, her brother treats her like a brother, she's more masculine than her boyfriend, and that she has to take care of her siblings. She then showed me an MRI of her shoulder, which revealed almost nothing of clinical significance. During the second visit, I tried to explore the emotional side. "Emergency Mode" indicated that energy/emotion was what she needed, and muscle testing suggested a challenge related to "responsibilities" and something "toxic." However, she denied all of it. I kept trying by rephrasing my questions and approaching the topic from different angles, using some ESR points and visualisations, but her responses remained the same: "There's nothing there," "Everything's fine," and "It's not my problem." So my question is: would you continue working from the structural side? Would you try balancing her on the energy side without directly addressing emotions? Would you give her a training program and send her on her way? Or would you take a different approach?
