Tip #3 - How to come across as a figure of authority. Explanation: Having authority is great in any selling situation, as the person who has the authority - often has control. Being in control and being a figure of authority leads to customers listening to us more, credible and overall more influential when a customer is making a buying decision. Managers have control when they state "Im the manager" - The amount of attention drawn and the amount of listening customer will do when the Manager's make this statement is way above what the average employee gets at first. How do you do it? - Simple tricks like: - Initial introduction, shake hands and position your hand in an upwards coming down position, the person you are talking to will naturally go under coming up, so your hand is positioned on top - this sends a subtle message of control. - When sitting at a desk, take up plenty of space - with your legs wide open under the desk and lean over the desk - by doing this you are non verbally saying - this is my space and customers will listen to you more deeply. - When standing up right, stand legs apart, shoulders back and head up ( not arrogantly ) - the mind and body are closely connected, anxious thoughts express anxious body language, the same applies for confidence as well. Overall, there is more things I did not list - but using these subtle techniques can really make the difference to just how effective you will be at persuading customers and getting more sales.
