The Word of God - 2 Peter 1:12-21
Q. Where did the Bible come from? We translate not interpret! - 12-15 We must accurately understand the word! - 16-18 The words are all true. The story is no myth! - 19 The Word was certain about Jesus, we must hold fast to it until we understand it. - 20-21 If the prophets weren't to interpret scripture, neither should we! We translate what God is saying into our lives. The Holy Spirit inspired the prophets with exactly what to say, we just need to follow it! Q. How might we "interpret" vs. translate? Q. Do you believe the Bible is the Word of God?

Amen brother. I believe the Bible is absolutely the inspired Word of God. 2 Peter 1:20-21 makes it clear that holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The scriptures did not come from man’s opinions or imagination. I agree we should not privately interpret scripture to fit our own beliefs or feelings. We have to rightly divide the Word and let scripture interpret scripture through the leading of the Holy Spirit. I think when you say “translate not interpret,” what you mean is we should faithfully apply God’s Word into our lives without changing the meaning of what He originally said. We are not called to twist scripture, but to obey it and walk it out. The Word of God is truth and Jesus is the Word made flesh. Amen. Good teaching God bless
Psalm 122:1-5
1 I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD!" 2 Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! 3 Jerusalem, built as a city which is bound firmly together, 4 to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. 5 There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David.

May 6: Abide in Me, and I in You
John 15:1-8 "If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you." (v.7) Why does Jesus speak of himself as the true vine? The image of the vine was a rich one for the Jews since the land of Israel was covered with numerous vineyards. It had religious connotations to it as well. Isaiah spoke of the house of Israel as "the vineyard of the Lord"(Isaiah 5:7). Jeremiah said that God had planted Israel "as his choice vine" (Jeremiah 2:21). While the vine became a symbol of Israel as a nation, it also was used in the Scriptures as a sign of degeneration - a deformed state of spiritual growth and moral decline. Isaiah's prophecy spoke of Israel as a vineyard which "yielded wild grapes" (see Isaiah 5:1-7). Jeremiah said that Israel had become a "degenerate and wild vine" (Jeremiah 2:21). One must be firmly rooted in the "Tree of Life" When Jesus calls himself the true vine he makes clear that no one can grow in spiritual fruitfulness and moral goodness unless they are rooted in God and in his life-giving word. Religious affiliation or association with spiritually minded people is not sufficient by itself - one must be firmly rooted in the "Tree of Life" (Revelation 22:1-2, Genesis 2:8-9) who is the eternal Father and his only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus makes a claim which only God can make - he is the true source of life that sustains us and makes us fruitful in living the abundant life which God has for us. It is only through Jesus Christ that one can be fully grafted into the true "vineyard of the Lord". Bearing the fruit of righteousness, peace, and joy Jesus offers true life - the abundant life which comes from God and which results in great fruitfulness. How does the vine become fruitful? The vine dresser must carefully prune the vine before it can bear good fruit. Vines characteristically have two kinds of branches - those which bear fruit and those which don't. The non-bearing branches must be carefully pruned back in order for the vine to conserve its strength for bearing good fruit. Jesus used this image to describe the kind of life he produces in those who are united with him - the fruit of "righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit" (Romans 14:17). Jesus says there can be no fruit in our lives apart from him. The fruit he speaks of here is the fruit of the Holy Spirit (see Galatians 5:22-23).

This is such a powerful reminder that true life and fruitfulness only come through abiding in Jesus Christ. A branch cannot survive separated from the vine, and neither can we spiritually apart from Him. I love how this points out that religion alone is not enough. We must be deeply rooted in Christ Himself and allow the Holy Spirit to transform us daily. Pruning is never comfortable, but God removes the things in our lives that keep us from bearing fruit. Sometimes He cuts away pride, fear, bitterness, distractions, or worldly desires so that righteousness, peace, joy, and love can grow stronger in us. The closer we stay to Jesus through prayer, His Word, and obedience, the more His life flows through us. Thank you for sharing this. It is a beautiful encouragement to remain connected to the true Vine and trust the Lord’s healing and transforming power in every area of our lives. 🙏
