Never thought I would get this much visibility on LinkedIn in 48 hours, and definitely not this way. 😂 In the last two days, clicking a job portal link turned into a Trojan attack on my laptop. Before I could even process what was happening, my Instagram and LinkedIn accounts were being used to spam people with MrBeast promotions, crypto nonsense and fake job opportunities. The irony is that I have seen fake job postings and suspicious profiles on professional platforms myself. I just never imagined that one day, my own profile would be used to do the same thing without my knowledge. And then came the messages from people in my network asking about these opportunities. People were spending their time responding to messages that I had never sent. To everyone who received those messages, I am genuinely sorry. 🙏 I know people connect with each other here because they trust the person on the other side. Seeing my profile being used to misuse that trust is something I never expected. The last 48 hours have involved formatting my laptop, changing passwords, removing unfamiliar sign in sessions, enabling 2FA and filing a cybercrime complaint. Turns out, changing your password is not always the end of the story. But one thing I realised through all this is that when something goes wrong, keeping your mind calm and fixing things one step at a time matters more than panicking. We use technology every single day, yet sometimes we forget to question whether a link is actually trustworthy. And honestly, anyone can get caught off guard.
