Seasoned & Valuable Thursday
Here's a message to my retired sisters: you are not done — you are seasoned. Your pension is a foundation, not a finish line, and the knowledge you carry took decades to build. Employers, small businesses, and other women need exactly what you know. And I want to add those of you who are still working this is for you also. You have knowledgable skills. I want all of us to put in our years of service because this community builds WITH you, not around you. Come on now! Retirees, and current women workers, check in: how many years of service do you carry?

@Damita Ware My sister-in-law was the supervisor at Community Center in Brooklyn and put my age up from 14 to 16 so I could get a "Worker's Permit" (remember those!) and I've been working since 14 until I retired at 56. I always said if I ever see that woman again I would cuss her out! 🤣

@TL Robinson Excellent! You got skills!👍🏽
Receipts Wednesday
Results are receipts. Think of one moment you saved the day: the audit you got through, the event you pulled off, the crisis you handled when the supervisor was out, the system you created that everyone still uses. That story is proof someone would pay for. 💰 Tell us one 'I handled it' story below.

@Damita Ware I like this! You did get something, you got to promote your business and wherever those fans are people are asking where they got it and what business is that printed not the fan? Great marketing idea! And you helped people stay cool and comfortable. 👍🏾 🫂

@Damita Ware Yes but you know that's a good idea for marketing. 🤔
Titles-Don't-Tell Tuesday
Do you know that your job title is the smallest thing about you? 'Clerk' doesn't say you managed records for an entire agency. 'School safety agent' doesn't say you read people and defuse conflict daily. 'Retired' doesn't say 10, 20, 30 years of institutional knowledge. Today, describe what you actually DO — not what your title says or the title you gave yourself. Comment: your title vs. what you really do.

@Damita Ware I like this title. Make an AI image with the title on a name plate sitting on your desk. 👍🏾😃

Mirror Monday
Here we go! It's a new week, new focus: evidence. Today, look at your work — past or present — and list five things you have mastered. Write it out or type it out. It could be: Scheduling a director's calendar. Running a bus depot shift. De-escalating an angry visitor. Helping a customer through bureaucratic forms. Processing benefits without errors. Training new hires in your department. Write out what applies to you. Remember mastery counts wherever it happens. Share two of your five in the comments. 💻

My two things I have mastered is: 1.Organization. I've done this as an Administrative Assistant at NYC Dept. of Transportation in every office I worked in. And as the 3rd Vice-President of Local 1549 where I had to organize the newsletter, television programs, field excursions and conventions, and membership programs. 2.Production: I've produced, directed and hosted my own TV series, worked with other producers on their TV programs, created and produced my union's local TV programs, produced neighborhood events as the Vice-President of the NYC Housing Committee. When I write these things out so much more comes to my mind. It shows me how valuable the skills I've acquired are. And it shows me how I can help others with the skills and talents I have gained through my working career, union activities and community involvement. Don't be afraid to share your gifts and ask for compensation because we are all worth it.
