A friend of mine pointed out recently how detailed and analytical professional sportspeople are after every game or performance. They’ll replay, dissect and study everything to find an edge. Question: How analytical are you on your own performance? Here’s where AI can now help. By analysing meeting transcripts, it can be like a coach sitting in on every client call or meeting, surfacing insights such as: - How many times we spoke more than we listened - Where we asked safe questions instead of the ones that would unlock breakthroughs - Whether we picked up on hesitation or emotional cues in a client's tone and pauses - Where we rushed in with answers rather than exploring the client’s thinking - How often we stayed in our comfort zone instead of the client’s agenda - Where silence could have been more powerful than words - Whether we framed ideas in the client’s language or slipped back into our own - How often we forgot to check for understanding or confirmation - Points where we didn’t tie back to their bigger vision or goals - Whether we ended with clarity and momentum, or left things hanging - How many good questions we asked – versus closed ones that shut the conversation down - Whether we used mirroring language to encourage the other person to expand on what they really meant - How often we labelled emotions (eg “It sounds like you’re feeling…”), helping them feel understood - Whether we allowed space for tactical empathy, showing we grasp their perspective before moving on - And a big one - how many times we missed opportunities to ask for referrals and introductions The best sportspeople don’t just train harder – they train smarter.
