Question about Day rate hours
For those of you using a day rate for some jobs, how do you 'describe' your work in your quotes? Do you state approx how many hours of actual mulching will be happening? Do you say approx 8 to 5 with X number of hours of mulching, or how do you handle that?

Still a rookie at this so take it with a grain of salt…the few quotes I’ve sent out I’ve simply put a scope of work, a final price and a start date that I make sure is concrete. I haven’t had any negative feedback on this method (small sample). I would not suggest putting anything in hours on the quote. Quote to the scope of work. Austin has a good video on this in the free training for “how to quote”.
Job Quote/Strategy Assistance
Hi all..I have my first lead/quote lined up. Local farm cleared a hedgerow and stacked up a good size brush pile. Normally they would burn this but proximity to road and houses they are looking for alternative options. There are 3-4 good size poplar and white ash stacked in the pile (that I can see). Curious if anyone has any experience with a job like this and if there are any recommendations for tackling it. I’m thinking about renting a mid size excavator to help separate the big stuff out of the pile. Figure I can mulch it to the side and then dive into the rest of the pile. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hi, my name is Phil Ostroski. I’m based in Western New York, between Buffalo and Rochester (Go Bills). I’m in the process of launching a land clearing and forestry mulching business, with a focus on serving rural landowners, farmers, hunters and property developers. I’ve already generated a couple of leads locally, primarily with area farms, though I haven’t closed any jobs just yet. My goal for this year is straightforward: reach $50k revenue and build momentum to grow the business steadily overtime. Right now my biggest challenges are making the up front investment required to get started, closing deals without having equipment in place, and balancing the demands of building this business while working full time as an engineering manager. I’m looking forward to connecting with others, learning from your experiences and contributing wherever I can to the group.

@Hayden Fake I think so. It’s been on my mind for over a year now…I drive around and see property after property that could use this service…time to sh*t or get off the pot I suppose.
My 1st 3 full weeks of business running Facebook ads
I'm writing to you guys about this win, because I think some of you need to hear it. You need to hear that this business is real and you can do it if you follow the plan that @Austin Gray laid out so perfectly for us. Follow it and do exactly what he says. You just need to act. Cowboy up, and start buckin. Disclaimer: I have a full-time management job in aviation, so any of this new business idea stuff has to be weekends and afternoons. So keep that in mind while you read this. 5 weeks ago, I had nothing but a plan. No machine, no mulcher, no money. Nothing. I knew i had a small bonus from work coming, so I'd use that as ad money and operating capital. But I started with nothing. But I knew I could do this. I came across OwnrOps on YouTube and started soaking everything up. And I mean I watched it all. Luckily I didn't join any fb groups first, because I probably wouldn't have taken the leap. Most of that crowd is made up of losers and dream busters anyway. I watched all of Austin's starter info and got more excited and pumped the deeper I dove. I finally messaged Austin and asked him if he thought running ads without a machine and booking jobs was a good idea to test my market and my resolve. Well... the first 3 days of running ads, I booked 3 jobs from 4 leads. I was HOOKED. It was thrilling. Here I am... no machine and I'm scheduling jobs. Crazy, right!?! 😆 I needed to see if I could prove my business case to myself, and if it was worth me going and buying a machine. I thought, well... if I can book 3 jobs in 3 days from 4 leads, I'm good to go! So I did. I got financed (easier than financing a 30k car, which was scary) and bought a machine that costs more than my first house. Nuts, right?! It was going great for the first 5 days, then boom! I got stalled by fb- I started running ads 5 weeks ago, but Facebook shut me down for 2 weeks due to card verification problems. So truly my ads have only been spending for 3 solid weeks. Since they started spending, almost everyday I've been quoting jobs after my 9-5. Sometimes 3 and 4 in an afternoon.

Hey just curious here. How far out did you book your first jobs without having the equipment? I’m in a similar boat, trying to figure out how to start up with no equipment. I’ve looked into renting a machine through local dealer to get going but locking down a schedule with when it’s available is tricky. Changes week to week.
