👊 Kettlebell Kumite #19 - DOJO SWING CHALLENGE | July 13 - August 2, 2026
this kumite takes us back to the roots. THE MISSION - how many sings can the dojo collectively do? - every rep from every dojo member counts and gets added to the total. HOW IT WORKS - any swing type counts - hand to hand, single hand, two hands swings - comment below with: 1. the number of swings you did, AND  2. the new dojo total (add your reps to the last posted total) THE CHALLENGE kumite #3 asked the dojo to swing as much as possible in 30 days. the final count was 44k swings. we will now try to beat that number! TARGET: 44,001 reps (yes, one more than last time is technically a win, but let’s not be that dojo 😏) let’s go swing and smash some records 💪

@Meeghen Eaton I'm feeling ok, seeing the osteopath again on Thursday and I reckon she'll sign me off. Then I've got to build the strength back up to where I was before I wrecked my shoulder.
🥷 Kettlebell Kumite #18 - TIME MACHINE | June 8, 2026 – until done
buckle up, everyone! the dojo has built a time machine, and it runs on one fuel only: kettlebell reps. THE MISSION our destination: 1880. the era of travelling strongmen, iron circuses, and the first kettlebell athletes who had no idea what was coming. we're going back to show them where kettlebells are today! 146 years. 53,390 days. one rep at a time. HOW IT WORKS - every kettlebell rep logged moves the machine 1 day back in time - carries don't count. the machine needs explosive movement to run - burpees count too. all variations, one rep is one rep (beginner, no jump, one pump, two pumps are all equal) - log your reps in the comments of this post and in the Kumite #18 - TIME MACHINE | scoreboard WHAT COUNTS - any kettlebell movement: swings, cleans, presses, snatches, squats, jerks, deadlifts, rows, etc... - burpees (any variation) - doubles count as 2 reps WHAT DOESN'T COUNT - carries - static holds TIME MACHINE ALERTS the machine doesn't always run smoothly, so watch for: - 🔴 ENGINE OVERHEATING - ⚡ TURBO BOOST - 🌀 TIME TURBULENCE  the mod squad will be monitoring the engine and inform you if we need to adjust to keep us on track for the destination.

Early morning workout - 316 reps.
Half Snatch vs. Snatch
1st ? What is the benefit of HSn vs. Full Snatch? 2nd ? Looking at Belt test, it calls for Snatch. Due to shoulder injuries or say shoulders are not feeling the best, does a HSn still count while doing a test.?

My understanding is with HS you can rest in rack position, with Full Snatch you can only rest at full extension. In Belt tests they must be Full Snatches. If shoulder injury means you can't do Full Snatches then you can't do the belt test until shoulder is healed. Which would be sensible anyway.
🥷 Kettlebell Kumite #17 - SNATCH CHALLENGE | May 11, 2026 – May 31, 2026
a snatch competition where speed meets power. - individual competition: every dojo member going for the top spot.  - two separate divisions: kettlefellas and kettlebellas. RULES - you have 60 seconds to complete as many snatches as possible - same rules as for the belt tests: No resting in rack during snatches, Only a quick switch between sides - tactical hand switch (quick switch) is allowed - half snatches do not count - only one hand switch allowed during the performance - record your session, post your video in the comments and mark your figures in the scoreboard: kumite #17: snatch challenge - scoreboard - submit your attempts (can be multiple, in which case your highest scoring attempt will be the one counting) SCORING - score = reps x factor the factor is determined by the weight you use, scaling the weights used for the belt levels: kettlebellas: - 8kg — ×1.0 - 10kg — ×1.5 - 12kg — ×2.0 - 14kg — ×2.5 - 16kg — ×3.0 - 20kg — ×3.5 kettlefellas: - 12kg — ×1.0 - 16kg — ×1.5 - 20kg — ×2.0 - 24kg — ×2.5 - 28kg — ×3.0 - 32kg — ×3.5 if you use an interim weight not on the list, the lower factor applies (eg. for kettlefellas category, using 18kg bell gets a factor of x1.5). SCORING EXAMPLE - kettlefella: 24 reps with a 20kg bell scores 24 × 2.0 = 48 points - kettlebella: 25 reps with a 12kg bell scores 25 × 2.0 = 50 points choose your weight, and let’s go snatch something. 🔥 -il-

@Tatjana Fischer Excellent effort 💪💪
Going Backwards
I'm getting very demoralised. I think I've pinched a nerve in my neck which is causing the whole of my right shoulder and arm to feel numb and tingling. On top of that I pulled a muscle in my left calf last Friday which is still hurting. Feeling weak and can't do anything on right side. I'm seeing an osteopath tomorrow and am hoping she can release the nerve so I can get back to normal life. And any chance of getting that black belt in June is rapidly going out the window. When I get the feeling back I'll have to restart with lower weight I'm sure.

@Ted Eaton Hopefully we'll both be back to full strength soon. I'm finding I heal a lot slower now I'm older which is a nuisance. ☹️
