Day 2: Daily Challenge
Today we are focused on evaluation. A great way to efficiently process data is to utilize AI. For today's challenge, spend 5 minutes exploring an AI resource that can help you operate more efficiently. Comment down below the resource that you tried, what it is supposed to help with, and your initial reaction. Be sure to engage with other comments! Here are some helpful AI resources to get you started, and check out today's breakout sessions for more ideas. Brisk Teaching: Offers a free Chrome extension that automates tasks like creating quizzes, lesson plans, and providing feedback. Curipod: This website allows teachers to create interactive lessons in minutes using AI. It generates customized lessons with text, images, and activities like polls and word clouds. Eduaide.Ai: Offers a free version with limited features, providing tools for lesson development, content translation, and more. OpenAI (ChatGPT): The free version of ChatGPT can be used for brainstorming, generating educational content, and providing real-time feedback. Quizizz: Provides a free version that allows teachers to design quizzes and create personalized learning paths based on student responses. While I really liked School AI, I did find the interface a bit too cluttered for my liking. Hence, I managed to find Edcafe AI which offers similar functions to School AI. I particularly like the chatbot function. For example, if students need help developing their narrative writing, they can ask the chatbot for help and receive immediate feedback on how to do so or whether they are on the right track. Using AI has really been a game changer in terms of the time taken to give feedback to my students.
Day 1: Daily Challenge
Today we are focused on engagement and encouragement. A huge factor in student engagement is relationship building. For today's challenge, try the 60-second student connection. Spend 60 seconds speaking to any student about something that has NOTHING to do with the subject you teach. Bonus points if you connect with a student you don't have a great relationship with. Comment down below how the student reacted to your conversation, and be sure to engage with other comments! Here are some conversation starter ideas: "What’s the best thing that happened to you this week?" "If you could have any superpower for a day, what would it be and why?" "What’s a hobby or activity you love doing outside of school?" "If you could switch lives with any famous person for a day, who would it be?" "What’s your dream vacation destination?" "If you had to eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?" "What’s a TV show, movie, or song you’re really into right now?" "If you could bring one fictional character to life, who would it be?" "What’s something you’re really good at that most people don’t know about?" "If you could design your own school, what’s one rule you would add or change?"

Currently on holiday. However, I have tried to ask my students through journal writing random questions like if they could have a super power what would it be. After, I replied to each student individually. It is amazing how much the students will share with you and some students even started writing longer once they knew that I would respond to their writing. As it is time consuming, I could not do as much as I wanted in a school year but it was still a fun experience with my students.
