Community Supported Herbalism ~ Food Forest in Buckinghamshire
We walked the land yesterday whilst we had the glorious sunshine! Our proposal was accepted to steward the 1.48 acres that I have been deeply connected to on and off for 30 years, and was our little garden back in 2016 - 2017 before my mum needed me closer to her before she passed. We love this land, its roughAF at the moment, but I know it so well, and with a bit of initial input from a good mow we can start gently over the next few months when we are between house sits...and come August we are moving into the village literally 20 yards from the land. I did get chatGPT to make a (not accurate at all) image of what it will become as it always helps with a visual. Both of us have decades of permaculture experience, but...currently dealing with bodies that go 'ouch' a LOT...so, this will be an incredible process to document...how to steward land with physical limitations and devotion to Gaia... We have had heritage seeds donated so far for when we are ready to begin sowing - this year really is for the defining the areas; Where the main herb spirals will be, and laying the membrane for the willow fedge around the chicken gardens. CLEARING (so. much of that) And recovering from each days activities!!!

@Angelika Batsis they do, and that's okay...I do get frustrated with how little I can actually do on some days, compared to when I wasn't in so much pain, however, it is a blessing to have the years of precious experience and patience. I'm going to prune the apple tree tomorrow and take out any dead/damaged from the pear tree...that will be me limit I think. Hubby went over for a couple hours today so he is a bit tired now... I'd love to see your plot please to give me some inspiration

@Mark Byford it is a gorgeous field, one thing thats in our favour is having walked and spent time here for nearly 30 years, so I have seen and been part of its energy for that long
First seed order has arrived!
Just received my first batch of vegetable and herb seeds- heritage and organic as suggested by Mark on Richard Vobes recent interview. I only have a very small garden so can't plant all at once- does anyone know if there is a "sow by date" with seeds!? 😁

Speaking sense?
Hi all I’m our beautiful community sorry I’ve not posted a lot in the last week. We move next Tuesday from Suffolk to Somerset so lots happening. I was just going to let you know I’ve been ask to speak at the Harrogate Flower Show 2026. I’ve been ask to speak on the benefits of producing your own good quality peat free compost. Last year I had the pleasure of visiting a farm near Grimsby where they produce large amounts of compost from 3 ingredients they produce on the farm. I reckon 2026 is the last chance we will have access to buy the basics we need to produce food. 🙏💪👍❤️

I love you get asked to speak at events - one day I hope to come see you - are you by chance speaking at the Regenerative Food Festival in Northampton in July? We hope to go ourselves. On another note..compost...we are starting to plan the 1.5 acre forest garden/herbal community gardens and being a paddock now, and committed to no-dig, my idea was to put membrane down this year to begin the 'die off' of the grass, realistically, with some pretty full on physical limitations at the moment, for us its the gentlest path to be able to get growing for community resilience. In the past we had been ordering ton bags of compost to be delivered and wanted to do that again this season...later in the year when we are located here full time. Any thoughts?
Sowing the seeds of life
Good morning all from a very grey and wet Suffolk in the UK where we have seen the sunshine for 2 days this month. Well despite the weather Spring and sowing season is almost upon us and I'm feeling a little sad personally on the fact that my partner and I had to leave the family farm last year and as result of that we have nowhere to grow. But I do know that some amazing opportunities out their for me to lend a hand and get involved in other peoples projects like @Andrew Munro who runs courses in electro-culture among other amazing things. It is my belief that by the end of 2026 /2027 we will see the collapse of our food system as we know it and some will agree and some will disagree but here is my 2 pence worth. Despite whatever is coming I am not taking part ! I want to live in a world of abundance I think we collectively hold the power to build and develop a better food system The new food system need knowledge at all levels and as we approach 90 members we now start to build a bank of wealth ( knowledge ) So I ask you all to share Field to Feast to your friends lets grow this group by sowing seeds in other communities about this one. The next food system we build needs to be built on love compassion honesty and truth, see you there xx
