Fantastic! It’s never occurred to me to take a birdwatching trip. Usually I just look wherever we happen to be. 🤔 This is a wonderful idea! And I learned about new birds as I had to look up the ones on your list. Nice. 👍

Ingenious feeder idea
No one seems to carry an attachment for my pole to hold my feeder. Finally I asked ChatGPT if there’s anything else I could use. The answer? A metal flag pole mount. It’s perfect. And only $10!! The feeder is sitting on the part that would mount to the wall. The screw holes didn’t align for me but zip ties solved that part. The picture also includes the raccoon baffle I MacGyver-ed out of a stove pipe because I can’t brag about it to just anyone 😂

Traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway this week and got audio recordings of several new (to me) birds. I managed to see a red-winged blackbird and a Baltimore oriole for the first time! It’s always a little thrill to get a new “lifer” even if it’s one I’ve heard around all the time. To see one and know for sure what it is, is fun. And having a place like this to share is fun, too!

MY FIRST SUMMER TANAGER!! I literally just jumped up and down. How embarrassing. I’m too old for such shenanigans 😂 (it is a summer tanager, right?)
