A lovely little moment to share with you
Control & Change has been nominated in the Southern Enterprise Awards 2026. I’ve been lucky enough to receive awards and recognition before, but this one feels slightly different because Control & Change itself is changing. It is no longer just about “having sessions” or using one particular technique. 𝐈𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲: Understand what has been keeping you stuck. Remove the barriers in the way. Build confidence moving towards the life you want again. That shift has come from years of client conversations, over 2,000 sessions, and the stories of people getting parts of their life back. 𝐒𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧. 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧. 𝐆𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧. 𝐒𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧. 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧. So this nomination feels like a nice reminder that the work matters — not because of the award itself, but because of the people, stories and changes behind it. Thank you to everyone who has been part of Control & Change in some way. The next chapter is about making this support clearer, more joined-up, and easier for people to access when they are ready. @Roberto Srpak Thanks Roberto. Wise words that resonate. It's easy to keep adding and getting carried away, but I like your comment "finally seeing the pattern that was already there." Sometime we just need to check what we already have, where is the evidence, then the work becomes easier....and clearer. Thanks

When I first started helping people, I focused a lot on techniques. What technique works for anxiety? What technique works for confidence? What technique works for fears? Over time I've realised there are much better questions: "𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗰𝗸?" "𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁?” “𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱?” Because two people can have the same problem for completely different reasons. Different stories. Different experiences. Different barriers. ...and often, different destinations. The technique is just the tool. Understanding where someone is now, and where they want to get to, comes first. That's probably the biggest reason Control & Change has evolved. When life slowly becomes smaller...
It rarely happens overnight. For Jan, it started with travel anxiety and health worries. Then flying became difficult. Then certain roads. Then smaller journeys. Eventually even everyday things like shopping trips, walks and coffee mornings felt out of reach. Her retirement was supposed to be about freedom. Instead her world was shrinking. One of my favourite parts of helping people change is not just seeing the problem reduce... It's seeing what comes back. For Jan it was: A shopping trip. A coffee morning. Saying yes again. A trip to Spain. And perhaps the biggest one... Enjoying becoming a grandma. Sometimes change isn't really about removing anxiety. It's about getting life back. https://www.skool.com/controlandchange

When life slowly becomes smaller...
You don't always need to fight the problem
For years, many people have been told to battle their anxiety. Fight it. Beat it. Defeat it. But what if part of the problem is that you've been fighting something that was actually trying to help? One thing I've noticed over the years is that many fears, habits and anxious responses started with a purpose. Protection. Avoiding discomfort. Trying to keep you safe. The difficulty comes when that protection starts taking away the very 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆. The holiday. The confidence. The sleep. The freedom. Sometimes change doesn't begin by fighting yourself. 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆.

Which question is better?
You don’t have to know exactly what you need to start making a change. One question I often hear is: “Do I need hypnosis?” Sometimes the better question is: “𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗰𝗸?” That’s what a Discovery Call explores. A relaxed conversation about what’s been happening, the life you’d like back, and whether I believe I can help. Sometimes the first step isn’t therapy. Sometimes it’s simply starting the right conversation.
