I think for me it would depend very much on the situation and my connection to the people involved. I've donated to short films on Kickstarter before. A lot of in-kind support through use of gear and my time, that kind of thing.

Grant application, Show budgets, create rehearsal schedule. There's a bit to do :)

@Karin Crawford they are classics for a reason :) Good writing is good writing no matter the genre. or period. I am a fanboy for Shakespeare. One thing that bugs me is when writers give characters decisions that make no sense for their context - be it job, relationship etc. They write a decision that sets up a false set of stakes that could have been written differently that makes sense and gets you to the same place.

@Karin Crawford Most recent that comes to mind was in an episode of Bosch. A simple thing of not telling his daughter any information about a threat to her. It was consistent with his past behaviours but not with the growth in awareness and trust that had grown between them due to all the other stuff they had been through together. It's like they can't write the subtlety of the relationship.
