How to use this community 1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF Copy this format and comment below: - your name - where you're from - your musical background - what you're trying to achieve in your playing 2. START LEARNING If you are new to jazz, take my "5 Days To Improv" challenge. Its a free course that helps you make your first steps into jazz improv. Learning the ropes and delving into how a jazz musician thinks, practises and plays. If you really want to progress, you can get hold of the larger paid courses in there too "Jazz Violin Fundamentals", "10 Tunes You Must Know", "46 Lines", "Mastering Chromatics" 3. KEEP A PRACTISE DIARY Head over to the pinned Practise Diaries thread and drop your first check-in. It could be something from a 1-1, something from Practice Club, or just whatever you're working on that day. It's the easiest way to keep showing up in here, and every like you get on a check-in is a point towards levelling up and unlocking more of the material. BONUS There's a poll below this post. Let me know what you're most interested in improving in your playing, it helps me shape the material in here

Ciao a tutti!

Lately, I’ve been trying to transpose the lick into different keys—playing purely by ear rather than reading it—which is a HUGE challenge for me. Today, just to get comfortable with it, I tried incorporating the lick into "Night and Day."😬

You manage to practice so much more in the summer... Day 5! I'm playing the Day 4 lick in every key—it's a real brain-teaser! Happy practicing, everyone!
Day 2 of the 5 Day Challenge - The Major Scale
Comment “Day 2” on this post to keep your streak! Congrats for making it to day 2! Progress starts with consistency. Little and often is the best way to learn anything new! Today is about trial and error with the sounds of the major scale over the A section of “Lady Be Good”. You will be improvising with rhythm and using your ear to see what sounds good to you. Get to the classroom and start the video, show us what you come up with by posting a progress video on this post or use this thread to ask any questions you have about the challenge today. Happy practising!

Day 1 of the 5 Day Challenge!
It’s your first day! Congrats for taking the challenge. Comment “day 1” on this post so we can cheer you on and get cracking in the course in the classroom! In our first video lesson in the course we are looking at learning the melody to Lady Be Good by ear and committing it to memory, using it to bounce off of with some improv. Use this thread to ask any question or post your progress video when you have practised the steps in the video. Happy practising
