Sunday Parent Check-In: Celebrate Your Progress
When we're teaching life skills, it's easy to measure our week by what our child accomplished. Did they take another step toward independence? Did they need fewer prompts? Did they try something new? Those are wonderful milestones—but this week, I want to shift the focus. What did you accomplish? Maybe you... - Stayed calm during a difficult moment. - Broke a task into smaller, more manageable steps. - Tried a new strategy instead of giving up. - Asked for help when you needed it. - Took a deep breath before responding. - Celebrated a small win instead of focusing on what didn't happen. Teaching life skills isn't just a learning journey for our children. It's one for us, too. Every time you show up with patience, consistency, and love, you're building new skills right alongside your child. That deserves to be recognized. 💙 This Week's Sunday Challenge Share one achievement you're proud of this week—something you did, not your child. Then tell us one way you're going to celebrate yourself, no matter how small. Maybe you'll... ☕ Enjoy your favorite coffee. 📖 Read a chapter of a book. 🚶 Take a quiet walk. 🍦 Treat yourself to ice cream. 🎬 Watch your favorite show guilt-free. 🛁 Take a relaxing bath after bedtime. 🍷 Have a well-deserved glass of wine! REMEMBER: You don't have to earn rest by reaching perfection. You're carrying a tremendous responsibility, and your effort matters. We'll celebrate your child every step of the way—but on Sundays, we celebrate you, too.

One step forward today...
Good Morning! Today's goal is simple: Focus on ONE step of ONE life skill. When we're teaching independence, it's easy to feel like we have to teach the entire routine all at once. But real progress usually happens one small step at a time. Ask yourself: What's the next skill my child is ready to learn today? Maybe it's: • Pulling up pants independently • Putting toothpaste on the toothbrush • Turning the shower on • Washing hands without a reminder • Following one visual step Choose just one and celebrate every bit of progress. It can be hard for us to step away when we've been so hands on for so long. But try giving them that one task and that one small step towards independence. There might be mistakes or spills – but they will learn the more they try! YOUR Affirmation today: I don't have to teach everything today. Every small step my child learns is building lifelong independence. Progress—not perfection—is enough.
