Saturday Ride Photo
Any nice photos form today!? I know that a few of the North American gang have been planning on going outside for the first time this weekend 😎🙏

Bit late to this and not even a Saturday…
Dublin Port - Glendalough gpx file/ Komoot
Sometime in the next month. I’ll be shipping into Dublin port and taking some horses to Kilkenny. I was thinking if it worked out I’d bring the Gravel boike and disappear off to Glenalough maybe via the Gap or some such way. Have any of you got a gpx file or Komoot route that you might be able to share with me. Cheers

@Anthony Walsh 3-4 hours mixed terrain be ideal, (worse case scenario I get held up in port and ride from there) . Ideally I’ll be within an hour or so of the Wicklows on my way back from Kilkenny 🤞
Accountability
Did you ride today? I was meant to ride but had to move rest day to today. Was wiped after a blood test this morning.

2 hours Z2 with some sprints in hour two. Had to head to the high ground we are under flood control. Went out for three odd hours yesterday, started raining as I headed out. Torrential downpours, as I got back to the farm, it literally stopped. But I’d rather be out in the rain than on the rollers
Strength Training
Interested to know what other people are doing in their strength training Personally, I’m using most of my gym sessions from an overall health perspective, and for longevity in my very physical job. For me, the last few years I’ve been struggling with the bike. Even though I’ve continued riding Ultras, it’s the only thing that kept me riding. I like to train heavy at least two times a week and one session with accessories. Heavy squats are at as full a depth that I can reach, with destroyed knees from 20 plus years of motocross. Cheers for any feedback

@Anthony Walsh ah. Yes the ego. So I work with someone who pushes past the sensible limits from time to time and I’ve seen how it really messes up what they are trying to do. I don’t ever have set goals in that direction. I will one rep max when I’ve needed it to work out 5x5 / 3x3 rep. Sets. Obviously with good form and a spotter but because I have had dodgy knees for so long I’ve tended to shield my expectations using them as a reason to try not and compete against a training partner in the gym. Going into a corner and showing a wheel to someone, meh that’s a different proposition 😉

@Gregory Gross thanks for the reply. That’s really interesting. Music to my ears, erring more towards TrapBar than DL 😉. Thank you, food for thought. Right there
Tech Thursday - Gear Ratios
We had some discussions about gear ratios the other day and I wanted to know what you guys are running? If you can briefly mention whether it’s a road/gravel/mtb, type of terrain, if you are racing and so on. Just to give a little bit of context. Eg. If somebody lives on the flats and races crits then a 1 x road groupset makes perfect sense for them but I don’t want somebody living in the mountains to think that they should copy your setup 😆 For me I built a road bike up with Shimano 52 x 36 front chainring but using a 10 x 36 sram casette (works fine but wouldn’t race it). Living in girona so I’ve a big gear for the fast downhills but a pretty easy one for long, hard climbs too. If I was racing I’d want a 54 front chainring but not racing these days. Also thinking of selling my road bike and buying a gravel frame with a 46 chainring and getting the sram Xplr 10x46 and swap in and out a set of road and gravel wheels. Road would be my priority so it would be a slightly bigger gear for the gravel riding but I think it would be fine. Was thinking of getting a set of 47-50mm tyres for the gravel wheels. Again I’m not currently racing so for the time being it could be a fine option. A slow, durable tyre would be fine - couldn’t be bothered with a set of fast tyres that punctures all the time and using tonnes of plugs. Those new recyclable vittoria tyres are cool but no idea what they are like - would rather go for vittorias to support EF with caoimhe but open to suggestions on all this 🙏 I’d like to start creating more posts where everybody can jump in and add their thoughts and opinions. Would be cool to see more people getting involved in these discussions!

@Wesley Hinkle how do the Pirelli’s perform at Unbound? I love using them. We are on flints here and the only other tyre that is reasonably good on Wiltshire flint I’ve found, has been Cazederos

@Wesley Hinkle awesome stuff mate. Definitely changed the game for me. I used the 50mm for most of last year to great effect. Been using the 45 mm Grav M all winter but will probably switch back to the 50. Tyre tech has moved on so much 🤘

I’m literally been thinking I’m not done. I had told myself I had peaked between 2015-2021 But what if I’m not. Time to find out. Going all in
