👋 New here I’d love to learn from this community
Hey everyone! I’m really happy to be here and connect with people who understand what it’s like to have an ADHD brain. One thing I’ve been thinking about lately is how ADHD can make some things feel incredibly easy and exciting, while other seemingly “simple” things can feel almost impossible to start or finish. For me, I’m especially interested in learning how other people manage things like staying focused, avoiding procrastination, finishing what they start, and keeping consistent when the initial motivation disappears. So I’d love to hear from you: 👉 What is the ONE ADHD-related challenge you’re currently trying hardest to improve? And even better: What’s one strategy, routine, tool, or small change that has genuinely helped you? It doesn’t have to be perfect or complicated. Even a small thing that made your day easier could help someone else here. I’m looking forward to learning from everyone and hopefully being able to help others along the way too. What are you currently struggling with most and what have you tried so far?

@Melody Vi That makes so much sense! I think keeping the phone away is such a simple but effective way to reduce distractions. It’s interesting how something as small as changing our environment can make such a big difference. Do you find that you usually get distracted by your phone, or are there other things that tend to pull your attention away too? And what are you currently trying to stay focused on?

@Shawn Bailey Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I really appreciate it. I’m definitely looking forward to going through the Operating Manual and the 5-day challenge. It sounds like there’s a lot to learn, and I’m excited to see how all those “random” questions come together. I’m also glad to be part of a community where people are willing to share and help each other. I’ll definitely reach out if I get stuck or have any questions. Looking forward to learning and contributing more along the way!
Just started
Just did the first part of my Operating Manual and realised the problem was never my discipline - it was the mismatch. Every app and planner I ever tried started at the action level while the belief underneath stayed untouched, which is exactly why none of them lasted more than a couple of weeks. Even my snack drawer has been making my choices for me.

@Keri Mossop I really like this realization! It’s so easy to blame ourselves for “not being disciplined enough,” when sometimes the real issue is that the system just doesn’t fit the way we naturally work. And the snack drawer example made me laugh sometimes our environment really does make the decisions for us! I’m curious, what was the biggest “aha” moment for you when you started working through your Operating Manual? And is there one habit or area you’re hoping to change first?
Made flashcards
I decided to make my homemade flashcards last night to help me with my Korean language

@Tara Gates That’s actually such a great idea! Making your own flashcards probably makes it feel a lot more personal and easier to remember. I love that you’re learning Korean too! How’s it going so far? Are you finding the flashcards are helping you remember the words better, or is there a particular part of Korean you’re finding the hardest right now?
