How cheese, a weird brekky and my dog turned into a meditation.
One of my favourite research papers behind The Magic in Dogs explored what happens when people intentionally practise mindfulness in the presence of their dogs and I shared it last week. The researchers found that dog-centred mindfulness increased human wellbeing and encouraged more moments of connection and synchronisation between dogs and their people. And I love that, because being present with our dogs doesn't always need to look like meditation. Sometimes it looks like being barefoot in your pj’s outside, rocking pretty wild hair, eating a weird breakfast (basically what was in the fridge and needed no prep), while your dog turns into a snuffle pig and the sound of his sniffles makes your heart sing and you savour it to the fullest and are fully present. To me, just magical 😌. Have a great day everyone 💛

When a tennis ball is an announcement 🤣
The magpies come flying in when they see Pax’s slobbery tennis ball. It’s very cute. They know we are about to have a fun, magical time and join us. They play swoop us for attention which is hilarious 😆

@Birdy O'Sheedy Our Duke would be livered if a Magpie were that close🙈. Still so very early on his "being one with nature" journey🤣

My wife tells the story of how he chose us so much better. Once upon a time (pre- 24 Sep 2023) we were happy, and then - not, as we lost our beloved Lola suddenly. She was our joy, our fur but in reality real baby girl. That was it, we were done with joy and love and ever getting hurt again. But the whole she left was so big that we had to honour her life somehow, we started volunteering at a shelter, then emergency fostering, then Duke had to be emergency fostered for Easter 2024(He was a rescue then). He went to another foster after that but he always wanted to come home. Long story short he found his way back for a foster and then..he loved us enough to stay. Who saved who is a much longer story for another time.
