No Rhyme No Reason
There is no rhyme and no reason I am going through this hard season. I had water and now there is none Water is gone and well is done Good news today, they approved a new site Now to get the well drilling rig going with it's might I went to the Dr yesterday, for breathing trouble Thought it was asthma, no pneumonia, double That is okay too, I am still here and still have fight Rolling with the punches and keeping hope in sight For life can surely throw some unexpected trials But giving in, giving up is not within my style. We all go through tough times in our earthly days But rest assured, this too shall pass, it's only a phase. CDK 07/14/2026

Thank you for sharing something so honest. What stood out to me is that even in the middle of uncertainty, the poem never loses its sense of hope. The progression from setbacks to resilience feels authentic, and the closing message is a reminder that difficult seasons don't last forever. I'm glad to hear there's progress with the new well site, and I hope your recovery from pneumonia goes smoothly. Wishing you strength for both challenges. Which line in this poem gave you the most comfort as you were writing it?
🐾 Monkey's Corner – Tuesday Morning Haiku Jam! 🐾
Good morning, poets! It's Tuesday, and Monkey has a challenge for you. Today we're keeping it simple: a haiku. A haiku is just three lines: 5 syllables 7 syllables 5 syllables Write about anything that caught your attention this morning—a sunrise, a cup of coffee, birds outside your window, your dog snoring at your feet, or a single thought you just can't shake. The beauty of a haiku isn't in using big words. It's in capturing one small moment that says something much bigger. Drop your haiku in the comments, read a few from your fellow poets, and leave some encouragement along the way. Let's fill Monkey's Corner with tiny poems that leave a lasting impression. 🐾 Ready... set... haiku!

I love that this challenge reminds us how powerful simplicity can be. A haiku asks us to slow down, notice the ordinary, and find meaning in a single moment. Sometimes the smallest observations inspire the most memorable poetry. I’m looking forward to reading how everyone captures their morning in just 17 syllables. What small moment from your morning surprised you enough to become a poem?
My style my way
My style, my way All these words I wrote, I say Fall from the sky each and everyday My style, my way I enjoy how expressive, creative and imaginative words can be... I enjoy different opinions start debates.. Well after all, words are there to create I don't follow a book, I don't always stick to the rules, my style, my way. I'll have an objective from a different perspective, I'll describe to you a colour without saying it's a colour!? I'll lure you in, I'll spit you out Make you laugh, make you cry Make you ask and wonder why oh why. My style, my way. Still ill learn from others everyday Don't bother though, telling me to change or rephrase, to follow rules or to be a certain way. I do me and only me my style my way @Melissa Poetrylpls New draft

I really enjoyed the confidence and authenticity in this piece. It captures the spirit of a writer who values creativity, individuality, and the freedom to explore ideas from unique angles. The recurring line "My style, my way" gives the poem a strong identity and reinforces its message throughout. What stood out to me most is the balance between staying true to your voice while still being open to learning from others those two ideas together add depth to the poem. Was there a particular experience or criticism that inspired you to write this declaration of creative independence?

I love these kinds of creative challenges they really make you think beyond the literal meaning. My first guess would be "colour/color," since it can express emotion without words and literally makes the world more beautiful. I'm curious to see whether the clue points in a different direction. 😊 What inspired this riddle, and did you have a particular moment or image in mind when you wrote it?
