🎶 NEW RELEASE — OUR FIRST CORDA VIVA EP IS OUT NOW 🌞🥰🎶 🎶
https://open.spotify.com/album/3EAQVZK916wlak00xD9Clj?si=NOn_zv2jTPG0qOEWt-JCeQ&utm_source=copy-link Rui Salgado, Jim Monneau and I are very happy to share our first Corda Viva EP with you 🔥 🎶 Corda Viva is our international music project, bringing together traditional Brazilian choro, jazz and improvised chamber music. We are inspired by the beautiful melodies of Brazilian choro: music that grew from European musical forms brought to Brazil and developed there under the influence of local rhythms, phrasing and musical expression. Our shared jazz background, combined with my classical life in the opera, makes this a very natural and exciting musical mix. I already knew Jim from the jazz department at the conservatory, and Corda Viva brought us together musically for the first time. The idea for Corda Viva grew out of an inspiring conversation between Rui and me after a jazz concert by our New York friend Roni Ben-Hur. Over a drink afterwards, we started talking about our musical backgrounds, and the idea arose to explore this musical territory together. The connection was immediate, and it did not take long before we decided to go into the studio. This first EP is the result of that musical encounter. With violin, mandolin and double bass, we create our own Brazilian Choro Chamber Jazz: a meeting of beautiful Brazilian themes, classical refinement, energetic rhythms and spontaneous improvisation. Yesterday, we performed this repertoire, together with even more music, live at Art Base in Brussels, with double bassist Wim Ramon, with whom we will perform again in Ghent on 9 February. More details will follow soon. The EP features three pieces: ✨ Migalhas de Amor ✨ Um Choro Pro Waldir ✨ Inclemencia Now available on Spotify. ❤️🎻 Enjoy listening! Me encanta el fraseo y el ritmo tan personal con el tocan esta versión de Caravan. Minimalista, pocas notas y mucho mensaje. Gracias Pierre por compartir
LA VIDA ES COMO UN TANGO...
- PERSEGUIR COSAS QUE NO ALCANZAS - TEMER OTRAS QUE NUNCA LLEGAN - TRATAR DE EVITAR LO INEVITABLE - PERO MIENTRAS HAY MUSICA, SIGUE EL BAILE...Os planteo un reto.

Violin and Fiddle in a NYC Metro line
@Ann Vancoillie and Paul interpret Take The A Train, each from her/his home in Belgium and West Virginia. The singer at the end of this unedited recording is in New York, while the other musicians are in Denmark, Germany, France, Italy and Spain united in real-time at the Jazz Standards Jam Club St Ghislain, a virtual JackTrip server. https://www.skool.com/jazz-violin-academy/classroom/dcc47c27?md=ad639237c9f44d7e8d5fb9707a34a794 All say playing together in this safe and unjudgemental setting helps a lot to improve their musical skills and to gain confidence. From a little intimidating in the beginning, it quickly becomes pure enjoyment.

Grappelli's solo on I can't Give you anything but love
Hi everyone, This afternoon, I also just recorded the transcription of Stéphane Grappelli’s solo on "I Can’t Give You Anything But Love", followed by a few licks from Tim Kliphuis. Tim is always very generous in sharing his ideas, and he has kindly given me permission to share and analyse some of his licks in my Jazz Line Lab, where I regularly post jazz vocabulary, transcriptions, harmonic analyses, and exercises in all 12 keys. See you on Monday for the Violin Technique Lesson here in Eva Slongo Academy. The lesson is accessible to members with a VIP subscription. Have a great weekend and happy practising! 🎻 https://youtu.be/p3mV2kfZxdg

El solo de Grappelli es como una catedral y los licks de Kliphuis son pilares, arcos, bóvedas, muy útiles para aprender a construir catedrales...Gracias Ann
