GETTING OVER YOU
You can have all the talent in the world and still be the reason nothing gets released.I say that because talent was never the hard part. The hard part is pressing the button and getting over YOU. Getting over yourself makes you a better person too. You come out the other side different. Everything starts with who you're willing to BECOME. Not the work. Not the industry. YOU first. I've had to ask myself and God who do I have to be to have the thing I want. The input is who I become. The outcome is just what that produces. A lot of us just want to have. We skip becoming the person who has it. Once you become that person, the outcome stops being hard. It just becomes what naturally happens next. Is it your skill holding you back, or is it you? Answer honestly in the comments.

Is it still technically "me" if my skill audit tells me it's my skill? (okay, okay...it's me looking to blame something else 🙃)
week 2 Homework
Been a crazy week with my parents declining fast. But i still managed to get 2 sessions done and I am submitting my second one. 8-25 11:02PM -11:32 Name your first three moves 1. Find a chord or melody progression 2. Find a kick hi hat and snare pattern 3. fill in/color the track I stalled, overthinking the second half of the loop and vocal placement (I wanted a different vibe to give a chorus-and-verse feel in 16 bars), but then I did what I do naturally (emotion placement and trying to create a moment they will remember) and felt where they should go.

@Michael Fanning I got you!
S2S Homework (Week 2)
The three exact moves I make when I open a blank session are: a. I start with a template that includes my virtual instrument tracks and live instrument tracks set up ready to go with my go-to custom chainfxs b. I start from something with a consistent beat (guitar loop, drums, metronome, etc.) c. Choose a feeling, vibe, emotion, bpm, key signature I usually get stuck on some type of hardware/software issue (e.g. Kontak crashed when loading, midi keyboard stopped responding)--that's what happened with the first two sessions. On this one, I got stuck being indecisive on where I wanted it to go next--I just kept listening to it over and over--before I knew it, time was up.

Yes, man! Sometimes only a hard system reboot can clear those gremlins--but it breaks the flow. I may need to just add regular system restarts to the start of a new session. The rest of the week has been gremlin free though...

Yo, just hopped in the lab. Can anybody add something to this? Audio below**

Mastery?
I saw this post and thought I'd share it with the community: 👉 Mastery happens in three phases. 🎹 Phase 1 — mostly wrong. You get it right once or twice, then miss it five times. It feels discouraging, but you're actually making progress. This phase is where most people quit — right before they get to... 🎹 Phase 2 — a coin flip. Right, wrong, right, right, wrong. You're closing the gap. This is the messy middle. Between phase 1 and 2, you've still gotten it mostly wrong, until... 🎹 Phase 3 — can't get it wrong. You could do it half asleep. This is mastery — not because you got lucky, but because you stayed in phase 1 and 2 long enough. The trick isn't avoiding the wrong reps. The trick is knowing what part of the process you're in, staying patient, and viewing the reps as evidence you're moving forward. Try this today: 1️⃣ Pick the thing you keep "messing up" 2️⃣ Play it slowly, on purpose, 10 times in a row 3️⃣ Count how many you get right — not to judge yourself, just to see the pattern You'll probably notice you're further into phase 2 than you thought. Happy shedding :)
