Welcome, welcome, welcome
Hey everyone, welcome to The Village! 🩵 We're Sarah and Brendan — parents to Jarrah, and the people behind Roots & Wings. For the past few years we've been hosting families at our home in Nicaragua, walking alongside parents as they step away from traditional schooling and build a life that actually fits their family. This space is for that same journey — the messy, beautiful, sometimes-terrifying process of trusting your kids, trusting yourself, and figuring out what "education" really means for your family. We're so glad you're here. Let's get to know each other — drop your answers below! 1. Introduce yourself! Where are you in the world, and who's in your family? 2. What made you click "join" on this community today? 3. Where are you on the wildschooling/worldschooling spectrum — just curious, dipping a toe in, or already living it? 4. What's the ONE thing about traditional schooling that made you go "there has to be another way"? 5. What does a "good day" look like for your family right now? 6. What's your biggest fear about stepping away from the traditional path? 7. If you could give your kids one experience over pure academics, what would it be? 8. What's a place (real or dream) you'd love to explore or live with your kids someday? 9. What's one small "wild" thing you've already let your kids do this week — climb something, get muddy, skip a lesson? 10. What do you most want to get out of this community?

What a beautiful vision for a community. 🩵 I really like that you’re not just talking about education, but about helping families create a lifestyle that actually fits who they are. The part about “trusting your kids, trusting yourself” really stood out to me because I imagine that can be one of the hardest parts when families are stepping away from the traditional path. I’m curious, Brendan and Sarah, what was the biggest moment or realization that made you decide, “We need to create this for other families too”?
