Open Compressor launch event (1 week away)
Hey everyone, Just a heads up that the launch event for our first ever plugin, Open Compressor, is exactly a week away! Join us live on Thursday, September 25th at 10am Eastern Time for an educational, action-packed event. We’ll be breaking down the plugin itself, demonstrating expert compression techniques on real-world mixes and masters, and delivering a masterclass on compression to help you level up as an engineer and producer. Replay will be sent to all registrants. Here's the link to RSVP if you haven't already: https://courses.mastering.com/event_full/1757071997273x706016099407233000?utm_source=FTMSkool Hope to see lots of you there, it's gonna be a ton of fun! And a special shout out to the 170+ who have already pre-ordered - can't wait to share this with you all. Cheers, Rob

You can also download the most versatile compressor here for free, or you get Curvature for 49 euros which is easier to use. This guy knows what he is doing 😉 The link to his plugins is in the comment section https://youtu.be/UTJByHOBXBQ
The best mixing tip I can give you
Here’s the best mixing tip I can give you: Progress = Work + Reflection There's no way to get better at mixing if you just watch videos and learn mixing tips. You need to actually do the work and finish hundreds of tracks if you want to become a true pro. But there's another part to the equation, and that's reflection—because work alone isn't enough. Yes, you need to do a lot of work. But if you just work away in a vacuum and you don't reflect on the work that you did a year ago, two years ago, three years ago... then you're never actually going to learn. I remember one time I set myself a challenge to finish a hundred mixes over the span of several months. When I listen back now, a lot of those mixes sound really similar because I was just churning them out. I didn't take enough time to actually listen to them, reflect, and decide how I needed to improve. In comparison, I've had single mixes that I've learned a TON from because I shared them with a bunch of people and got feedback. And I've had mixes where another mix engineer has mixed the same track and I was able to carefully compare the differences. I learned so much from those single mixes because I was able to reflect more accurately. I was able to more easily identify where my weaknesses were and where I needed to improve. So don't forget—you need to put in the work, but you also need to take time to reflect and analyze your past work. Only then can you identify how to actually improve. — I originally posted this idea as a video on our Instagram account. if you're not already following us, you can check it out here. We're starting to post a lot more frequently and have some exciting videos coming up. Have a great week, Rob

Very much true, so why not set up something like 👉Pitch Your Mix👈 and get feedback from the pros!? I remember attending the big songwriters event in Glendale, CA, in 1990, where you could pitch your music to professionals in different rooms. They would then listen to your music together with the audience and provide feedback on it - that was great input. Martin Panzer was there to give comments on your lyrics, John Braheny was there etc. And they also had a discussion panel with 6 of the major record labels, but they ended up harassing each other about bad artist investments, which was pretty fun to listen to 😁

Sounds like the track is recorded on a Windows computer. I don't like Apple, but when it comes to real-time workload it doesn't have the issues Window's interrupt handler has. Windows is made for office use - that's were Microsoft make their money. Otherwise Linux is the OS to go for, but it's mainly Reaper that works in Linux - but reaper is a really good DAW - and that comes from a Cubase user since 1990. To get rid of clicks and similare I've to agree that Izotope RX is still likely the best tool.
New studio desk designed specifically for recording, editing, production, mixing, mastering, video editing and production as well.
This thread will be my documentation of the entire build of my new production desk complete with pictures and explanation of every step of the way as well as measurements and materials list. I will be building a prototype out of materials that I have to remove from the studio during the remodel. I'm removing a set of cabinets that run across the entire back wall of my studio building (19 1/2 feet long by 3 feet tall and 2 feet deep). These are the materials I'll be using to build the prototype out of. Suggestions are welcome. If anyone has any ideas about how they would do it differently, I'd like to hear about it. If anyone wants to build one their self and can't quite find the proper design that will work well for them, here's your chance to see something new and won't cause early reflections off the desktop. Complete with 2 racks that are isolated from the main desk that also double as speaker stands with isolation pads on top of each for the monitors. 1 on each side of the desk itself. The desktop shape itself forces the 60 degree width of stereo field forming the equalateral triangle relative to the optimal listening position. Let me know what you think as this journey unfolds.

@Monroe Neese Might be the same writer!? The setup with Schrödinger's cat is Evil 😁, but also kind of the background to the Multiverse thinking, but then there are also mathematical and observed phenomenas which supports the hypothesis - just tricky to prove it 😳

Was the head of a small analog 8-track studio during the 80th where we recorded a lot of local bands. I'm educated in electronics and music theory.
