I use Loopback all the time. Great for sampling 🤘
Psychedelic Funk
https://on.soundcloud.com/8sART2yT6FxEixpX9 Well, I can’t say it’s fully finished track, but it’s the only finished “ish” I have. You guys will be the first to hear it after my dear girlfriend and a brother. About a month ago I was invited to DJ at a party series called Gypsy Sofa and I thought to my self why not try making a house track combining some gypsy sounds. I typed in “gypsy” in Loopcloud and came across a trumpet sample that I liked. Started to put together a groove and the next thing I know, it’s sounds nothing like gypsy, but fuck it, I like it, it’s groovy :) Definitely learned a ton making a track. Probably will take me a few paragraphs of writing to describe. Improved composition, tricks with transitions, better use of compression/saturation, spacing of elements, dynamics between the elements (open sounds vs closed). Honestly, still lots to learn. I always quote what Rachmaninov said: “music is enough for a lifetime, but lifetime is not enough for music”

@Ernest Roland thx ☺️
Hiya!
I’m Sarah currently living in Los Angeles, been here for 10 years. I’m from all over, I’ve lived in essentially the 4 corners of the US. I’ve always loved music since I was a kid, I was also a dancer for many years which I think really helped me find my way into DJing. Well that and I got deep into the Brooklyn house scene when I was in college and decided to go for it when I moved west. 2 years ago I started teaching myself Ableton, so I could make my own music. For me, it was/is a very challenging program, however I would call myself a solid beginner. I released my first two tracks this year, which felt like a huge accomplishment. I love all kinds of music but I’m particularly drawn to world sounds, progressive house, haunting vocals and lots of drum beats. I’m really good at coming up with musical ideas, embellishments, or sound concepts but I am still struggling with creating exactly what’s in my head on Ableton. I often end up settling for what I can do, especially if I can’t figure it out from youtube videos etc. That has been what has slowed me down the most. Excited to be here ✨

Hi fellow New Yorker 👋 We have a similar journey. I also danced growing up (breaking), lived in 3 different countries and got into Brooklyn house scene 😊

I like it too! Started listening while reading the comments and totally got lost in the music instead :) good sign
Why not
Was curious about afrobeat/world music as a result of hearing this vocal track from looperman and decided to give it a try. I decided to share this track only for the reason that it is my latest. Creating the percussion was a challenge that I enjoyed, I also created the chords with midi after researching different chord structures related to the genre. I am a big fan of the daw Bitwig and this song opened a few more doors to the beauty/complexity of the daw. I am not fond of the mix/mastering and sometimes struggle as a result of being partially deaf in one ear as it seems that what sounds good to me is not to the majority as far as low/mid/high range. I rely on tonal balance software from izotope to aide. My favourite was creating the baseline, painstakingly trying different midi notes and velocity to make it sound human. https://on.soundcloud.com/ui3T1akjfLXyNhgR6
