I forgot to get dressed one morning
Not literally. I had clothes on. But I was three hours into my day before I realized I had walked into all of it completely unarmed. I had already snapped at someone I love. I had already replayed a conversation from last week eleven times. I had already talked myself out of something God clearly asked me to do. And I sat there wondering why the day felt so heavy, like I was fighting uphill in mud. Then it hit me. I never got dressed. Paul doesn't say the armor appears on us automatically. He says put on. It's an action. It's a decision. It's something a woman does on purpose, the same way she puts on her shoes before she walks out the front door. And I think a lot of us miss it because we've made it complicated. We picture some long, quiet, candlelit hour that we're never going to get in this season of life. So we skip it entirely and call ourselves too busy. But here's what I've learned. Putting on the armor can take ninety seconds. It can happen in the bathroom with the door locked. It can happen at a red light. It can happen while the toddler is finally distracted. The helmet. Lord, guard my thoughts today. (Remember to take every thought captive in the name of Jesus) The breastplate. Help me make choices that honor You. The belt. Help me walk in truth and reject every lie. The shoes. Direct my steps and make me an agent of Your peace. The shield. Strengthen my faith to trust You in every circumstance. The sword. Plant Your Word in my heart and help me stand firm in it. And prayer. Keep me close to You all day long. That's it. That's the whole thing. Here's the part that convicted me most. Paul lists the armor after telling us who the fight is actually against. Not our husbands. Not our kids. Not the woman at church who said the thing. The struggle is spiritual, and we keep bringing flesh weapons to a spirit fight. No wonder we're exhausted. So this week I'm asking you to do one thing. Before your feet hit the floor tomorrow, before the phone, before the coffee, get dressed. Pray through the seven. It only takes Ninety seconds.

great reminder! Ephesians 6:13-18 is a scripture we have memorized with the kids so I would like to say it is a regular thing but with the different schedule of summer and getting our sober living non profit off the ground we have been missing it many days as of the past couple of months. Thank you for this timely reminder!
