Finding your Why
Why I'm Here (Read and Post This Before You Start the NBAA CAM course 🚧STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS!🚧 ) Before you open a single module, this is the first thing you do here. The CAM is about six months of real work, roughly two hours a day, six days a week. Nobody crosses that finish line on motivation alone. The candidates who go the distance are the ones who got clear, on day one, about why they were doing it. So tell us. In a few sentences: when this gets hard, what is the reason you will keep going? Name the people who depend on your judgment, the standard you want to hold, or the version of yourself on the other side of this exam. Skip the resume answer ("it is good for my career") and go a layer or two deeper. The honest reason is the one that will still be standing in month four. Post your why below. 👇Then read a few others and welcome someone in. You are about to spend six months in the same arena as these people, and it helps to know what everyone is fighting for. Date your post. Six months from now, come back and read it. I will go first.

Great input, JD! Personally, I believe it's important to always have multiple goals ahead of you. That way, once you achieve one milestone, you're not left wondering what's next. Continuous growth comes from always having a new challenge, skill, or objective to pursue. Knowledge is power, and there is always something new to learn, review, or refine. Exchanging ideas with other professionals broadens perspectives, challenges assumptions, and helps us grow both personally and professionally. Being a mentor and helping shape the next generation of aviation professionals is one of the many ways we can give back to the industry. For me, beyond one day flying my dream aircraft, my goal is to go beyond my expected duties and become a true asset to the organization and representing the company in the best possible way, setting a positive example, demonstrating leadership, and contributing wherever I can add value.

#1 – Good day everyone 👋 — I’m Nico. Born and raised in Germany, and I’ve been living in Canada for the past 7 years, currently based out of Toronto. I most recently worked as a First Officer on a corporate jet and am now exploring new opportunities and the next step in my aviation career. Always focused on continuous improvement and striving to be just a little better each day, both in and outside of the cockpit. #2 – I’m here to connect with like-minded people, build meaningful relationships, and exchange knowledge. I strongly believe that there is always something to learn from others — regardless of experience level, position, or background. #3 – I enjoy traveling and exploring new countries and cultures, trying out new restaurants, and I have a strong interest in cars and finance. I also value creating and sharing memorable experiences.
