Any song recs for me to sing?
Hey! I am wondering if anyone has any song recommendations for me to sing! I'm happy to sing any genre (apart from heavy metal), any decade or level of popularity:))

Hey @Megan C, if you’re after a short and enjoyable challenge, check out ‘I’ll Take Romance’ - it’s in 3/4 time (a waltz) jazz-swing - and this is one of my favorite versions: https://youtu.be/mTTsr9UsS68?is=iXPH_1k0fnVcLtQ6 Sing it in a few different keys even… and loop where it’s a little challenging. Or any Joni Mitchell tune - if you want to encourage your higher notes to come back?
Please help me with head voice
Hi! I am a singer and for a couple of years, I took a break from singing due to personal reasons which could not be controlled. I have recently gotten back into singing and I'm having trouble getting into head voice and trying to stay in it. I'm wondering if anyone had any tips for this or any songs that could help me with this? Thank you!!

Hey @Megan C, I get you! I came back to my voice after a break of 13 years (yikes, it sounds as long as it was). I’m still finding my way back to my higher notes. I do know that I can be too heavy in my chest voice. So I am working on ‘shoring up the foundations’ ie being much much lighter in my approach with chest/spoken range. And inching up really slowly, like a semi tone at a time. If I feel I’m getting ‘heavy’ again, I take it back a semi tone… I do this on scales and chord tones and also on phrases from a tune I’m working on. It would be great if Lizzie put this kind of specific work into her small group online sessions. I learn loads listening and watching another singer work through something that I need too… Does any of this help? I hope so!

@Ashley Jasper Styles yeah and it makes total sense right? You probably sang a lot in college… And using our full range, being the sopranos that we are (I’m a light soprano, also finding her way again), we maybe just felt like it was normal. And it was! Now we’re older, our instrument has had other bits of life affect it… and so here we grow again. With sometimes an instrument I don’t recognize. Voice is a fascinating thing, isn’t it? The original instrument!
A Few Updates + A Question For You 🎤
Hi everyone — I’ve been rethinking a few things and making some updates to my online world. First, I’ve removed the paid VIP tier. From now on, everything I share in this community will be free. I really want this space to feel open, welcoming, and genuinely helpful for anyone wanting to learn more about their voice. I’ve made the Breath Lessons free in the classroom, and over the next few weeks I’ll be adding more free content focused on vocal function — the foundational information that help singers feel more consistent, confident, and in control. I’ve also removed a couple of courses — the Piano Course and the Jazz Course. They just weren’t quite at the standard I’m aiming for, and I want everything here to feel clear, useful, and worth your time. Looking ahead, I have been thinking about building something a bit more in-depth — maybe a smaller, more focused learning space for singers who really want to go deeper. Things like: • Guided learning paths • Interactive Zoom sessions • Deeper dives into vocal technique • Optional one-on-one lessons • A more structured “next level” singing experience That said… I’m a little hesitant to build something like that without knowing if anyone is actually interested. So I’d love to hear from you: • Would you be interested in a more in-depth learning space? • What would you hope to see included? • What’s your favourite format? (Live Zooms, self-paced lessons, group coaching, feedback, etc.) If you’re keen to go deeper with your singing practice, let me know. If there’s enough interest, I’d love to build something really meaningful for those who are ready for the next step. Thanks so much for being here and for growing with me. More free vocal function lessons coming soon 🎶

Hey Lizzy, I love the sound of your plans. Here are my responses: • Guided learning paths - yes please! I feel like I take bigger vocal steps sometimes and miss what it takes to go from one stage to another. • Interactive Zoom sessions - if they’re once a month, I would probably be there! • Deeper dives into vocal technique - I’d like small live (online) group classes as I often get something when I observe someone else with similar stuff to mine ;) And/or being able to watch a live recorded group session - although that could be tricky with privacy etc… • Optional one-on-one lessons - that sounds great! • A more structured “next level” singing experience - I’d love to hear more about this.
CALL TO POST for our new members!
Hey everyone! With so many new members joining lately, it feels like the perfect time for a little reintroduction. And I have a slightly nerve-wracking challenge for our newest folks: if you’ve been in the group for less than six months, I invite you to post a video of yourself singing here. Pick something you love—something that makes you feel good and confident. This is not a feedback moment. No critiques. No teachable moments. Just a celebration of the courage it takes to sing and share your voice. 🎶 I also want to say thank you for being so patient with me over the last few months. I’ve been very busy with work, and I was also quite sick for a while. (Maybe I’ll share more about that another time—but for now I’m just grateful to be slowly getting better.) I’m so grateful that you’re all here, and I’m really looking forward to hearing your voices! 💛

Hey Dovihon, that is SO FUN! I'm curious about how low and how high can you go in your voice? It sounds like you have a pretty flexible instrument there!
