Post Board and Train Question
Our dog Chael loves being around other dogs. He's been cautious around people but great around other dogs. His time at off-leash parks (even when we keep him on a long leash) is his favourite time. As per the direction we received at graduation, we've steered clear of off-leash parks until Chael solidifies everything he's learned. The one thing I've noticed as I've taken him on neighbourhood walks, is that he get very barky and aggressive when we see another dog. The stim helps, but I've found it strange that he's taken on this new behaviour. Any thoughts?

@Jessica Rutschke Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Up until writing the above message, we had only been doing neighbourhood walks. The walks were "structured" until we would get to a park, where he would be "free" on leash. I tried getting video without success. More recently, we've gone to off leash where he's great with other dogs. It's just the structured neighbourhood walks where he loses his cool, sounds pretty nasty and pulls very hard. I do give him a stim, which helps but it still keeps happening.
Second weekend home
Ozzy did amazing during his second weekend home. It has become obvious to me that he knows the commands and knows what he needs to do, but is just a stubborn teenage boy at times. It is a lot more fun to stick his head in the snow than walk beside me, lol. I can't blame him as he is part Husky. But he gets back on track quickly with our patience and consistency. His loose leash walking is amazing. Not perfect by any stretch, but we are getting there. He still likes to consistently get ahead of me, but he gets back in line with a correction. I give him lots of "free" time and sniff breaks in between concentrated walking to heel. His time in walk to heel before losing focus is definitely getting longer. He was much better at "place" on park benches this weekend. He went to place easily, but did not stay very long. We tried some "under" at park benches, but he was not so interested in complying. A large breed puppy walked by him on the path while we were close by in the grass in a "down" and Ozzy had zero reaction. A short time later, we walked by the same puppy on the path and the puppy lost his mind at Ozzy so Ozzy reacted in turn, barking and lunging at the puppy. I gave him a high level stim and he snapped out of it immediately. We saw a lot of other dogs on the walk from several metres away and he was absolutely calm and had no reaction. The improvement in his leash dog reactivity from before training is night and day. The experience with the puppy at close range I believe was a good one because it was not a high risk situation and was hopefully a big learning for him. I am still nervous to walk directly by any adult dogs because I don't want to stress him out or give him a chance to fail before he is ready, but we'll get there. Ozzy reacted to dogs a couple of times (excited barking) while we were parked and in the car and the dogs walked by, but one mid level stim was all that was needed to snap him out of it completely and become calm. Video of one of our weekend walks attached and some photos.

We had some initial difficulty with our dog Chael after the first week of Board and Train. I decided to get the wingtips for our ecollar ($40 or $45 I think). I also found that I wasn't keeping his ecollar tight enough. We got some help from the trainers to get his collar marked off with some tape where it's tight enough. Not sure if that would help with the "stubborn" resistance but wanted to mention it as I think those things helped us.
Chael After Week Two of Board and Train
Chael's walking is SO much better. Auto downs are now coming. Doing a random "place" on a walk doesn't always happen, but the attached videos shows success. "Under" was tricky on the walk, but usually works at home (as shown in the video). Progress!

Here's a video of Chael staying at his "place" when someone arrived at our door earlier today. Typically, he'd be barking and would need to be restrained. Awesome progress for him after his first week. The second and third video are of Chael on his walk. It was less great. Part of the difficulty was likely due to the fact the the collar wasn't on tight enough. Also, the remote wasn't even on initially. Oops! Additionally, I was using a leash that goes over my shoulder and Chael maybe needed more leash to work with (it was difficult operating the camera, remote and leash at the same time). The walk got better when I put the camera away and held the leash in my hand (rather than over shoulder). Auto-down was almost non-existant. This is obviously still a work in progress. Let me know if I'm doing it wrong.
