Hi!
Hi all! My name is Jil, I am a 46 year old first time mama living in CO. I have a theatre and sales background, just getting started learning about UGC. My goal is to replace my full time income so I can be flexible to spend time with my munchkin, support my family, pay off debt, allow us to travel, and maybe retire before the dirt is being thrown on me! haha!

Welcome Jil! 👋 So glad to have you here. Your theatre + sales background is actually going to give you a massive head start with UGC — being comfortable on camera and knowing how to communicate/sell are two of the biggest skills brands look for. Love the goal too 😂 Let’s work on getting that first paid UGC deal before we worry about retirement! My advice: start working through the beginner training, and don’t feel like you need to have everything perfect before you start reaching out to brands. If you get stuck on anything, post it in here and I’ll help you out personally 🙌
Sending videos to brands
In which format is it the best for sending videos to brands? For example i wanted to send videos in high quality so i chose we transfer, and for other brand i chose google drive. Second question: When we sending our videos to brands, is it better to send everything in one pitch or ask them, if they want collaboration that i can send them example of my work? Thanks

The best thing is to put it in a Google Drive as it remains a high-quality video. And send videos that are closest to the niche you’re targeting

@Viktorija Radilovic the camera angles and the lighting is fantastic and I strongly believe this is a great UGC example! However, I can’t review the text and audio as it’s in a different language 😂😂

@Viktorija Radilovic honestly the way I started is I just sent one video to the niche that I was looking for and told them “ I can make videos like this for their brand “

Hey Patty, just go step By step. There’s no real moment that you should be “ready”. It all comes with action!

Hey Patty! I’ve gone through your portfolio properly and wanted to give you some honest feedback on what I think is working, what could be improved, and what I’d focus on to make it more appealing to brands. At the moment, I’d probably rate the overall portfolio around 40/100. That doesn’t mean the content or you as a creator are a 40/100 — I’m specifically talking about how effectively the portfolio sells you to a potential brand or agency. I actually think you have a really good opportunity because you fit a demographic that brands genuinely need creators for. There are thousands of younger UGC creators competing for the same jobs, whereas there are far fewer quality mature creators who can naturally connect with women 40+, families, homeowners, pet owners and older consumers. So I’d actually lean into that rather than trying to make the portfolio look like everyone else’s. First Impression The biggest thing I would change is the overall design. At the moment, the bright pink background, hearts, different photos and fonts make it feel more like a personal page rather than a professional UGC portfolio. You can definitely keep the pink and some of your personality — I wouldn’t want you to lose that — but I’d simplify it massively. I’d go with a mostly white or light background, darker text and then use the pink as an accent colour. That would immediately make the content itself stand out more. I’d also remove most of the hearts. A couple used strategically is fine, but right now they’re competing with your actual work for attention. Your Opening Section The first few seconds are really important because brands are usually looking through multiple creators. I’d simplify the opening to something like: Patty Baker UGC Creator Authentic, relatable UGC for brands wanting to connect with real consumers. Then underneath, you could have something like: Lifestyle • Home • Beauty • Wellness • Food • Pet I’d also use one really strong photo of yourself rather than the collage of different personal photos.

@Patty Baker @Patty Baker Don’t feel overwhelmed! I probably gave you way too much at once 😂 You definitely don’t need to change everything straight away, especially since you’re just starting out. For now I’d literally just focus on 3 things: 1. Simplify the design – keep the pink because it shows your personality, but use less hearts/decorations so your videos stand out more. 2. Pick your best 4–6 videos – you don’t need heaps of examples. Just focus on making a few really good ones with nice lighting, a clean background and the product clearly visible. 3. Shorten your About Me – just introduce who you are, what type of content you enjoy creating and what makes you different. And don’t worry about the brand logos, testimonials or results I mentioned yet. If you haven’t worked with brands, you’re obviously not expected to have those! That’s something you can add later as you start getting jobs. You’ve already done the hardest part which is actually creating a portfolio and putting yourself out there. Just improve it bit by bit rather than trying to redo everything at once 🙌
