REALISM - Art that looks believable - notice all the crazy colors in the hair below in Richard Schmid’s painting. See how loose his brush strokes are? This is one of my favorite artists of all time. HYPER-REALISM - Art that looks SERIOUSLY believable (“wait… is that a photo??”). My work is this way. Every wrinkle and scar as well as every basketball nib. MAGICAL REALISM - Art that looks believable… but something feels a little off, you can’t always explain it, but you KNOW it when you see it.
