Some of you may also remember that I was recently trying to help raise money for Brandon because he was facing several procedures on his heart. I didn’t know Brandon for years. I actually met him only about four or five months ago through another group. There was a woman in that community who had suddenly lost her husband, and then just days later, her home caught on fire. Brandon didn’t know her. But he stepped in anyway. He helped raise a significant amount of money for a complete stranger simply because she needed help. I donated to that fundraiser, Brandon and I started talking, and over the months we became friends through messages and many, many conversations. That tells you the kind of person he was. Yesterday, Brandon’s husband reached out to me and shared the devastating news that Brandon passed away on Saturday, August 22. Brandon had suffered a heart attack and they were able to revive him. Unfortunately, later that same night he suffered another heart attack, and this time they were unable to bring him back. My heart absolutely hurts. Brandon was my kind of person. I resonated with him because he was always trying to help somebody. In the short amount of time I knew him, I saw such a beautiful heart posture toward other people. He cared about people. He showed up for people. He gave when there was nothing in it for him. And now I would really love for us to show up for his family. His husband is trying to raise money to help cover Brandon’s burial, memorial, and other final expenses, which total approximately $6,500.
