Hidden goldmine of local businesses
This is an overlooked goldmine where local businesses actively show up looking for help, and almost no AI experts are there. Ming Xu, CIO of Trillet, explains how he positions himself as the only AI service in the room and turns simple conversations into paying clients. If you’re trying to land clients without competing online, this changes the game.

The Future Is Local AI
Are we about to see the end of the $20 monthly AI subscription? I just read a great article exploring why the future of AI might be moving away from giant data centers and right onto our local workstations. - Open source models are catching up to big names like OpenAI and Anthropic in as little as 4 months. - The gap in performance between paid frontier models and free open weight models shrank from over 8% to just 1.7% in a single year. - Running models locally is becoming a reality as the latest MacBook Pro M5 Max can handle models with up to 134.9 billion parameters. - Big providers are facing massive losses with OpenAI projecting a 14 billion dollar loss for 2026 which could lead to much higher subscription prices for us. - Small specialized models can achieve GPT 4o level performance at only 2% of the cost when fine tuned for specific tasks. - Local AI gives us total privacy and eliminates those annoying rate limits that slow down our automation workflows. GPT‑5.4 mini and nano
OpenAI just dropped two brand-new models, GPT-5.4 mini and GPT-5.4 nano, which are specifically designed to give us high-end intelligence at much faster speeds and lower costs. - GPT-5.4 mini runs 2x faster than the previous mini model while nearly matching the flagship GPT-5.4 on complex coding and reasoning benchmarks. - The new models are built for "subagent" workflows where a large model plans the work and these smaller models execute the specific tasks in parallel. - GPT-5.4 mini features a huge 400k context window in the API, making it perfect for processing long documents or large codebases without breaking the bank. - Pricing is incredibly aggressive with the nano model costing only $0.20 per 1M input tokens and $1.25 per 1M output tokens for high-volume tasks. - These models excel at "computer use" tasks like interpreting dense screenshots of user interfaces to complete actions with low latency. - Free and Go users in ChatGPT can already access the mini model through the "Thinking" feature in the plus menu. Claude Makes Visuals
Claude just added a beta feature where it can create interactive charts, diagrams, and visualizations directly inside the chat, and then update them as the conversation changes. - Inline interactive charts and diagrams, built in the response - No code needed, just ask things like “draw this as a diagram” or “visualize how this changes over time” - Claude can decide when a visual helps, or you can request one explicitly - Visuals are temporary and evolve with the chat, optimized for understanding in the moment - Different from Artifacts, which are meant to be saved, shared, and downloaded as more polished deliverables - Examples include interactive compound interest curves and a clickable periodic table - Available on all plan types and on by default - Signals the bigger trend: AI outputs shifting from text-only to dynamic, interactive UI that supports decision-making and automation Curious how you guys would use this in your workflows, would you trust an AI-generated visual as the source of truth in a report or dashboard, or only as a thinking tool?
