The Jaguar Rescue Center’s shared their update for their first Ma Earth campaign, and it was a huge success! Together, 206 donors raised $9,117, which unlocked an additional $16,000 in matching and bonus funds. That means a total of $25,117 for wildlife! The campaign also ranked in the top 10 out of 201 projects worldwide! JRC has already committed funding to insulate 50 additional electrical transformers in Costa Rica. This will help protect sloths, monkeys, and other wildlife from preventable electrical injuries while creating safer connections throughout the canopy. This is what happens when people who care about animals come together. What a wonderful win for wildlife! 💚🐾

Our girl Snow is continuing her recovery at Wildside Rehabilitation Center after suffering another fracture during flight training. Her wing is currently wrapped while the new fracture heals. She's receiving physical therapy, extra calcium and supervised time outside where she can stretch her wings and move around safely. And apparently Snow has some opinions about all of this. Her rehabilitator says she's doing well, but she'd definitely rather be outside with her eagle friends than hanging out with the humans. You can see Snow and hear directly from her rehabilitator in this short news update, and can we just acknowledge for a moment that Snow is still a baby?! Look at the size of her! 🦅❤️ Keep healing, beautiful girl. One day at a time.

I have always loved this John Denver lyric: “How do you know that animals don’t speak, just because they don’t speak to you?” Years ago, it made me think about the other side of that question, and I wrote: “How do you know they don’t understand us, just because we don’t understand them?” The more time I have spent with animals, the more certain I have become that communication doesn't require spoken words. Animals communicate with each other, and they communicate with us. They form relationships. They grieve. They comfort. They warn. They protect. They remember. And sometimes, if we are open, quiet and willing to listen in ways that go beyond our ears, they tell us exactly what we need to know about them and ourselves. I may not be able to explain everything about how that connection happens. I don't need to. I've experienced enough to know that it does. Maybe the question isn't whether animals communicate with us. Maybe we need to get better at listening to them. 💚🐾
